How do I apply a dollar amount discount to the total sale

I just found out I can only have a percentage discount. I would like to be able to do a dollar amount i.e. $1.00 off from the total sale. Is there any way to deduct one dollar from the total sale?

@VanKalkerFarms The two articles do not address how to apply a dollar amount discount.  I have created a dollar amount discount and a % off discount, but only the % off discount appears when I click on specific items.  How do I apply this discount?

 I can see how to create a dollar amount discount, but I don't see on my smart phone how to actually apply the discount.  I created a % off option, and see how to apply that (click on the individual item and select the discount).  I created a dollar amount discount.  I see that I can't apply a $ off amount for an individual item.  But no where do I see how to apply the dollar amount discount.  The article says:

Apply a Discount to an Entire Sale

1. From Checkout, tap the list icon to view all items.
2. Tap the discount you’d like to apply to add it to the current sale

But I don't see the $ amount discounts listed in my library.  How do I get them to appear?

@juliagraves82 I think you might find this thread with the steps to apply a dollar amount discount to a sale helpful. Keep in mind dollar amount discounts don't appear on the item level, but you can select those discounts from the item library instead. (It's as if the discount is an item, if that makes sense.)

If you're still having trouble locating your dollar amount discounts from your item library though can you reply here to le me know what kind of device you're using with Square?

@Helen - When I go to my Dashboard Library, I can see my discounts.  But when I am in Checkout, I don't see my $ amount discounts.  I can only find my % discount when I click on a specific item.  I don't know how to add Discounts to my grid or what a grid is.  I don't have anything at the bottom of my screen.  I am using my smartphone, LG V10

@juliagraves82 Can you try the following steps to apply a discount from your smartphone? The steps are a bit different depending on your device!

1. Tap Checkout and add an item to the cart.
2. Tap Library to back to your list of item > then tap All Items (at the top of the screen) which opens a new menu > tap Discounts.
3. Tap the dollar amount discount you'd like to apply to the sale.
4. Tap Charge when you're ready to complete the payment!
