can I keep POS with out having dashboard

I do vending at different faires and farmers markets I don't want the dashboard really just the point of sale so if I deactivate my dashboard account can I still keep the point of sale on my phone?

The Dashboard is your main hub for everything for your account; if you deactivate it, you'll close your Square account, which means no more sales.

You don't need to have the Dashboard open in a web browser in order to run sales. As long as you have the Point of Sale app open you'll be able to take orders fine.

Now, if you're talking the iOS Square Dashboard app versus the web page, the app is only there to show a snapshot of your current sales and do basic comparative sales analysis. You definitely don't need it on your phone to run sales. It's nice to have but definitely not necessary.
