Is the square reader fee 1.9 percent or 1.6 per tap or both ?

Is the square reader processing fee 1.9 percent 1.6 per tap or both. ? I'm a hair dresser trying to link up with xero and getting so confused. I also don't know whether to add gst ontop of services or include?

In short, it depends on the type of device you use to take the payment. If you are using either the square terminal (looks like an eftpos machine), or square register (the full square device with an integrated 2nd screen/reader) then the fee is 1.6%

For the other devices (like the readers that pair to your phone or tablets) the fee is 1.9%

Keep in mind, when comparing fees, that the square quoted fee includes GST, whereas most of the banks don't. Also with square, there are no other fees (monthly fee, merchant fee etc etc).

In regard to the pricing. The pricing in the system is the full price (including GST). How it appears in Xero, and how you deal with this from an accounting perspective will very much depend on the integration you are using.
