Hi @URRRobin , yes, that is correct! Any pay date in
2020, regardless of the actual pay period, will be included in the 2020 tax filings ( annual W-2s and/or 1099-MISCs). Generally speaking, the pay date always determines the tax filing period, not the pay period.
With that being said, if you would like these wages to be reported in 2019 or if you have additional payments to process from 2019, you can run an off-cycle instead
and use our "backdate" feature. You have until January 8. 2020 to process an off-cycle or contractor payment for 2019. Here's some more information about year-end payroll taxes.
