How to arrange items/categories on Square Terminal using the favourites grid.

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Organizing Catagoies on Square terminal.

I have a Square handheld terminal.

I've set up a number of categories.

If I go to Square online my categories are organized how I want them.

When I go to my terminal and I click on the category it is organized numerically.

This is a nightmare for us. I sell photo prints. So I want it set up in sizes. Starting at 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, etc, etc. I've got them organized in the categories on the computer this way.

But on my Square terminal it moves the 11x14 to the first place followed by the 16x20 then the 4x6 etc. Is there any way to fix this?

Hi @PhotoMike,

Items and categories in the 'Library' on the Square Terminal are ordered alphabetically and numerically, so I'd recommend using the favourites grid instead. The favourites grid allows you to add and arrange your items in whichever order you choose.

Here's how to set it up:

1. Open your Square Terminal, tap Checkout > Favourites.
2. Press and hold an empty square to add items or shortcuts. Tap the + icon that appears on the grid.
3. Optionally, tap the pencil icon to edit the page name, then tap Done.
4. You can either:
        - Select from Items, Gift cards, Rewards, Discounts or Services to add a shortcut,
        - Tap an existing item from your Square item library, or
        - Tap Create a new item, Create a discount, Create a service.
5. Tap Done.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with. 😊

I guess that definitely could work if you only had a few items. But scrolling through several thousand items doing it this way would be ridiculously time-consuming every time a customer came in.

That's why having categories that you could sort would be so much smarter.

For instance if a customer comes in and wants a frame I currently click on the frame icon and up pops all the frame prices. I can then tell my customer what the prices of the product that they're looking at and ring it in.  Unfortunately this way the sizes are not in order.

If I have to go through my entire price list I'm going to be scrolling for hours trying to find all the different frames that are going to be mixed in with all the different prints, that are going to be mixed in with everything else.

I may not be correct about this, I'll give it a shot again later, but I did try this before and ended up with all my prices listed.

You would think if you can sort them on the website in a proper order that they could easily be sent to the terminal in that order.
