Scale for restaurant

Hiya! 
I have a cafe & bakery. We also slice & sell our deli meat & cheese by the pound. I have switched to the restaurant version for ease in the cafe but I can no longer run the deli Deparmtent seamlessly. I would love to see the scale option as a part of the restaurant pos. Thank you!

I have been looking for this request and found it in many places but since yours is here I would like to add this request.

This is a feature that I consider so "basic" that I didn't even ask when I was inquiring about Square, neither was it mentioned to me during months of talk about the system. They knew I had a lot of items for the "bakery department" where they are weighted and nobody mentioned that, so after I purchased all the equipment I was told "use the Square Point of Sale", the problem is the point of sale is not the same as the restaurant, I was able to edit and plan things on the dashboard on the restaurants and not on the point of sale. 

Please Square Team, add this simple feature. This IS a dealbreaker for A LOT OF BUSINESS, trust me, if they have told me before I would have NOT transitioned to you guys, and I only came because they promised they would add in the near future. 

I have seen people asking this for years and years and just being ignored.

Is there a possibility to at least add decimal values on the Square for restaurants? So we don't connect the scale but we can add the values from it?

You may want to look at sell by Units.  The problem is that if you sell Ham by the Pound for $4.99 for example you would need to enter it in the sale as .5 not 8oz for example and vise versa if you have it as ounce you can not enter 1 lb but would need to enter 16oz for 1 lb.    I am also seeing this works for Square for Retail not sure if it works for Square for Restaurants.

If you google Square ---- Stock Conversion or Sell by Units you may find other examples also.  

I use this for actual items and not for my weights of Fudge.  I do not sell fudge by the regular X/Lb method.

1/4 is 4.99

1/2 is 8.59

1 lb is 14.99

etc.

So you get price breaks the more you buy which is why we cannot use the Sell by Units for our fudge.

We are also a mixed retail and take-away food business - pretty common during and after COVID19!  

We sell quite a few food items by weight, so please please add scale compatibility to Square Restaurants, including decimal quantities!!

We're a deli and market in need of an integrated scale solution. Any update on the scale for restaurants feature request?  Submitted "Escalated" requests since 2023 and no progress.

@kristen I noticed that they finally added our long-waited feature of decimal numbers for Square for Restaurants. My question now is; when will support for scales also be available? I don't want to make the switch and force my team to add manually all the numbers when they are already used to have that done automatically. 

Any ideas?

Hi Team, with our newly added support of decimals in Square for Restaurants comes the next question. 

When the support for scales will be added for Square for Restaurants? It's great to have the possibility to add the decimal values and not have that "Unsupported Item" shown, but would be great to have the weight being automatically added to the item. I'm talking about specifically for Square Register and the scales sold by Square itself.

Here is a Link to scales that are compatible with Square.  compatibility/accessories/scales 

When you say Add manually what are you referring to?  Depending on the Scale you could have the Scale print Price embedded barcodes.  This works if you have a set price per lb for example.  My problem was I had a sliding scale by weight, the more a customer bought the lower the price per lb.  

Here is an article for the correct formatting for a Price Embedded Barcode with Square.  I tried this using the UPC-A code and it did work for scannable Price embedded barcodes.
