Changes do not Sync Across Multiple Devices (Fixed in 6.75)

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Since latest update, my registers do not talk to eachother"

Actually, I think it was 2 updates ago. If I save a cart on iPad1, then go to iPad2, the cart is not there. This was a huge problem this past weekend as we use carts as bar tabs. We had to keep force closing the apps, then reopen to get the carts to sync.

The latest update I've received from our engineers is that a fix will be released to address this issue in app version 6.75, which is scheduled to be released on Sunday August 10th. Please install the update once it becomes available on your devices. If you still notice this behavior after updating, please let me know, and I'll relay this to engineering so they can take a look.

I know this has been a difficult one and I appreciate your patience as we worked toward a resolution.

We are also experiencing this problem. We have two square stands and two terminals and the carts are not syncing between them.

Look for update 6.72. It is being gradually rolled out. It seems to have fixed ours. Hopefully it is available to you all as well.

Yes, engineering confirmed that the fix will be available in 6.72! I had asked engineering for a release date, but they never got back to me 😞 Apologies for the delay here.

 

From what I've read this morning in some of our internal resources, it sounds like 6.72 has rolled out to 100%, but please let me know if anyone is having trouble getting the update.

Im sorry to report that the problem IS NOT fixed. Yes the initial cart populates to the other stands now, but just like before the latest issue, which I have reported multiple times, any changes to a previously saved cart do not populate on any other stands. For example you make a cart for 2 beer pints, 15 minutes later you add 2 more beer pints. Only the original stand that you created and added them to show 4 pints, all other stand will only show the original saved carts 2 pints. How is it possible that they can not get this fixed?? I think this goes back close to a year at this point.

It has only fixed half the issue. Only the initial cart is shared across the stands. If you go back to a saved cart and add more items it will not show on other stands...

So are we just being ghosted now? Been months now, and I’ve messaged you every other week for the last month. Not a word.  Can square simply not fix this? After literally years of complaining about saved cart malfunction it appears clear that they either can not or will not fix this issue.

Our carts are definitley better. I don't see the problem you reported (only the initial cart is saved accross the stands) every time, but once in a while we will have a cart left over on a stand that we know was cashed out.

Just installed 6.75, it didn't fix anything and now its even worse. Same problem, carts do not update between stands when additional items are added. And now the pictures for some items are incorrect as well. Just like before if you hard terminate the app then the additional items will show up, but it will not fix the pictures. This is getting beyond ridiculous....

I've gone ahead and forwarded your feedback to the engineer who has been working on this issue. I apologize that you continue to not see these issues resolved, even after we believe they have been fixed. If I could fix this for you myself, I certainly would! But I am no engineer...

I can hardly believe this... The latest update for Square stand now has an entirely new tip and receipt interface, BUT CARTS STILL WILL NOT UPDATE BETWEEN STANDS!!!! Can you please explain to me how Square as a company CONTINUOUSLY prioritizes aesthetics over function???  This particular cart issue has persisted for months approaching a year, I have reported various issues with carts in general since becoming a Square customer 5 years ago as well. What is it going to take to make Square engineers prioritize this issue and get it fixed once and for all???
