Changes do not Sync Across Multiple Devices (Fixed in 6.75)

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Since latest update, my registers do not talk to eachother"

Actually, I think it was 2 updates ago. If I save a cart on iPad1, then go to iPad2, the cart is not there. This was a huge problem this past weekend as we use carts as bar tabs. We had to keep force closing the apps, then reopen to get the carts to sync.

The latest update I've received from our engineers is that a fix will be released to address this issue in app version 6.75, which is scheduled to be released on Sunday August 10th. Please install the update once it becomes available on your devices. If you still notice this behavior after updating, please let me know, and I'll relay this to engineering so they can take a look.

I know this has been a difficult one and I appreciate your patience as we worked toward a resolution.

Having the same exact same issue. Again. We have experienced so many cart problems over the years it’s ridiculous.

It has been 3 weeks since the update broke this function. After every transaction for the last 3 weeks, we've had to force close the apps to make the registers sunc with eachother. When is Square going to fix this?

No response here either. They have always seemed to brush off cart issues in the 5 years since we’ve used square. I have tagged the moderators multiple times and no answers. Have you called in?

Yes, I called in 3 weeks ago and of course they told me to uninstall/reinstall the apps. Which is a huge pain and never solves the issue. But I do it to rule it out, and then don't hear back.

Agreed. All of the offered solutions are ridiculous. There is CLEARLY a software issue. They seem to just not care about it. Hopefully somebody will see out our posts. My last 2 or 3 posts about it have been completely ignored.

Hello @FlightTeam and @MountainHouse  - Apologies for the delay here and that you're experiencing this issue with your saved carts.

@FlightTeam It sounds like you're using Square Stand vs Square Register, since you mentioned iPads. Is that correct?

 

Before I can escalate further, I'll need to know which version of the Square app you're on, as well as your OS version. You can find this information within the Square app by going to More > Settings > Hardware. Then, click on the name of your device under This Device. From here, you'll see the Application and OS version.

@MountainHouse If you're on Square Register, you can find this information by following these steps. Register will just have a software version, not OS.

  1. Tap ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > General.
  2. Tap About Square Terminal or About Square Register or About Square Handheld.
  3. From this page, you’ll see your software version.
  4. Tap Check for Update to see if a software update is available. If you see Software Up To Date then you are all set.

 

We just need to ensure that you're on the latest version of the app or software before escalating to engineers.

We are on iOS version 18.4.1 and Square for Retail ver 6.69

I have 2 Square Stands and 1 Ipad for moving around the Store, instead of popping the Ipads out of the stands.  The 2 Ipads in the Stands are upto date as those are the ones I process transactions through. The mobile one is behind on updates but can see the other Saved carts.  If I save a cart in the Ipads in the Stands the other Square stands Ipad does not see the saved cart, but the mobile out dated square version can see saved carts from any of the Square Ipads in either the stands or the mobile version.  But neither stand can see a Saved cart from another device.  They are all on the same network as they all use the WiFi for the Store and not cellular data.  Here is another thread on this which has the actual versions of the Ipads in message 6 of ??? : https://community.squareup.com/t5/Square-for-Retail/Saved-carts-are-not-showing-consistently-across-...

No. I wonder how much money I have lost in the last month if my crew forgets to close out the app after every single transaction, and then a customer gets checked out on another register that isn't updated?

We are having the same issue. Saved Carts haven't shown up properly across devices for weeks. We use four Ipads, two of which are connected to Square Stands. I updated all of the apps, tried signing in and out of all devices, uninstalled and re-installed the app on all devices today, verified they are on the same wifi network, restarted the devices, etc. The Square app just doesn't work properly since one of the updates. I saw a page while using the browser version of Square today that had a notice that they are working to integrate "Saved Carts" with the online ordering feature, so my best guess is that they are working on developing this feature and broke the existing previous version recently. We need it to run our shop! We have to close and open the app to be able to view a Saved Cart and process a transaction. Please help ASAP. We have a big event this weekend and this is greatly inhibiting our ability to make sales in a timely manner.

This is getting ridiculous. It’s been how long now? 6 weeks??? Of all the cart issues I’ve reported over the years they are ALWAYS brushed off.

Violet, what is the status on this? As you can see this is crippling to some of our businesses. Why are cart issues always not taken seriously? In my 5 years with square I have always had some kind of issue with carts synchronizing. Sometimes they start to work right on their own other times it gets to this point where iPads can’t even see each others saved carts. Before this current issue the problem was new carts would synchronize but any updates to a cart like adding more merchandise wouldn’t synchronize.  Now they don’t synchronize at all. Apparently from within this thread people have called in even, and Iof course the multiple reports keep growing in the community.

I’m sorry to say that yes, after the initial cart was made and if you went back and added more drinks or food it would not update on any register except the one that entered the changes. This issue has been ongoing for at least 6 - 8 months. if you care to dig through the community board and find my old post about it that has also been ignored, you will see when I first reported the problem.

Thanks for checking in. I promise this issue is still on my radar. I'm currently monitoring the support ticket I filed on 5/28 for further updates from our engineers. In their last update, yesterday, they said they were testing out a proposed solution.

I'll give them another nudge today to see if they've gotten any further since then.
