Why only 2 site visibility options now? Used to be three options - Visible, Hidden & Unavailable

Previously, I could quickly enter new products and I had them default to Hidden.

Then when I had time, on the Dashboard I would update the listing with pictures, description, etc. and change it to Visible.

Then when the products sold out, I could change it to Unavailable which would hide it from the website until we were able to get the items in stock again.

I could filter my Item Library to Hidden items, and all it would show me were new products that needed to be updated. Quick and easy.

Now I can only filter between Listed and Unlisted - and Unlisted includes all of my Hidden as well as my Unavailable items.  I just had to sit here with my purchase order and search each new item.

Am I missing something?  Is there some other way to do this?

Hey there @IsabelleN.. From what I can tell, this was done because as far as visibility goes, an item is either visible or it is not.  Hidden and Unavailable were effectively the same thing, therefore redundant.  It sounds like you were using visibility to do something it was never intended to do.  Trust me when I say I've used a few workarounds like this over the years and eventually I got bitten when my workaround was broken by changes like this.  I think I have a solution for you, though it will take a while to implement it.  However, it is a solution that should never be broken because you are using a Square feature for its intended purpose.

I would create a Custom Attribute of type "Text."  There will be only three values you put here -- blank, New and Sold Out, or something like that.  After that you will be using the Item Catalog's bulk editing feature.  Select all the items that are new.  Then click the "Edit Items" button at the bottom.  From the bulk edit page, click Attributes, deselect everything except the new custom attribute you created (it will be at the bottom).  Paste the value "new" in all of those.

You'll do the same for the Sold Out items.

Unfortunately there is no way, currently, to do this with import/export functionality.

Try this out with a couple of items after you create the custom attribute.  Then let me know if you need any further information.

I hope this helps.
