Tip Sharing (tipouts)

We need a way to create tip sharing or tip outs! We are a counter-order restaurant and the servers currently tip out the bussers.  The 2 servers each tip out the host and busser 5% of the tip pool, we need a way to weigh the tip pool.  The servers would each get 45% of the pool, the host 5% and the busser 5% for example. We currently manually send tips to payroll, but would love this feature so it could be automated, hands off.

A Tip Pooling feature is currently available. With Shifts Plus, you can use tip pooling to equally divide each credit card tip across all tip-eligible team members clocked in at the time of the transaction, or split them among all tip-eligible team members based on their hours worked within a 24-hour workday or across a seven-day workweek. Tip pooling ensures equitable and timely tip payouts for your team and removes any alternate and complicated workflows you currently use to distribute tips manually — giving you more time for other aspects of your business.

You can also require team members to declare cash tips when clocking out or switching roles at a point of sale or on the Team App. If team members are required to record cash tips when clocking out or switching jobs, they will have the option to edit their cash tips for prior shifts. Cash tip amounts will also appear in your shift reporting. You can learn more about tip pooling in our Support Center.

Hi @Shackfam505. There are third party apps, like TipHaus, that handle the tip out functionality that you are requesting.  Besides TipHaus, there are other third-party apps in the App Marketplace that integrate with Square, that add functionality that Square does not provide.  Based on your request, I’m not sure that tip pooling will work exactly as you want, since you are not splitting tips evenly and in your case you are wanting non-tipped employees to be tipped out by your tipped employees.  TipHaus gives you robust tip out and other functions that seem to provide lots of flexibility.  Yes, there is a monthly fee, but even if/when Square comes up with their own native version, there is no doubt it will come with a monthly fee, as well.  I hope that gives you something to work with now.

The question is about tip outs that are specifically NOT equal. How do you give 5% of the pool to the busser? That is the basis of the question. Is there a way to do that in square or square payroll? It would be very helpful if there were.
