Remove address from Square Online Site

Remove address from Square Online Site

Square Online eCommerce website automatically syncs & shows "Store Location" address, with no option to remove. Previous threads mention going to the website editor, however, no such feature exists.

The only options on the Square dashboard under Online are Overview, Sales Channels and Settings. There are no submenus for any of these options.

I run my business out of my home, and this is a HUGE privacy concern! If I cannot remove my address from the Square website, I will need to change providers. So will other home-based businesses. Paying a postal service for a secondary address is not an acceptable solution. At that point, it is more streamlined & cost effective for me switch to another provider.

I am selling non-physical products. There is no reason an address needs to be displayed on the site at all.

Hi @chefjamiekj.. This is definitely possible currently.  Follow these steps:

  1. Edit your Square Online site.
  2. Click on the "Location and Hours" block.
  3. Click on the "Details" section.
  4. Unselect "Address."
  5. In order to get rid of the "Get directions" link, unselect "Link."
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 above if you have the "Location and Hours" block on any pages other than your Home page.
  7. Republish your site.

That should remove the address from your Square Online site.

Thank you for responding, @TheRealChipA !

The issue is at step 1: Edit your Square Online site. I don't have that functionality. The only options on the Square dashboard under Online are Overview, Sales Channels and Settings. There are no submenus for any of these options.

So, if you click on, say, "Overview" is there not an "Edit site" button somewhere on that page?  No as a sub-menu, but in the actual overview page?  If not, how do you go about editing your website pages to add other content to them?

Also, could you please reply with your website's URL?

Thanks.

@TheRealChipA The website is unpublished for privacy reasons 😬 BUT here is a screenshot of what I'm dealing with.

I just got off of chat with Support, who logged into my dashboard. They said that the issue was not fixable because the website "automatically syncs" and told me to submit a feature request. I had to input my business address (which is my home address) upon account creation & users don't seem to be allowed to remove their only address.

And here is what happens if I edit the Store Location to not allow pickup or delivery. The address still shows, but now my digital products aren't showing either.

@chefjamiekj So, my apologies.  I've been with Square for over a decade, and have been using Square Online for quite a few years, now.  I assumed you and I were using the same site builder but from what I see we definitely are not!  I'm going to reach out to my contacts on the development team and see if I can learn anything more that is helpful.  But, from what I'm seeing, you are using the automatic store builder that I don't even have access to since I have a "legacy" Square account/site.  Sigh.

I'm sorry to have not figured this out sooner and for wasting your time with dumb questions.  However, if I learn anything helpful, I'll be certain to come back here and let you know.

@TheRealChipA No worries, this seemed to be an area of confusion for Support as well. Thank you so much for your time!
