Subject: URGENT: 10+ year loyal merchant frustrated by Square's failure to support iDEAL and Euro invoices
Hi Square Team,
I have been a loyal merchant using Square for over 10 years now. While I appreciate your platform, it is frankly unacceptable and short-sighted that Square still fails to support iDEAL for the Dutch market.
By ignoring iDEAL, you are ignoring how Europe actually does business. In the Netherlands, iDEAL is not a "nice-to-have" alternative; it is the absolute standard, accounting for the vast majority of all digital transactions. Because of Square’s failure to adapt to localized European payments, I am forced to route a massive portion of my turnover through your direct competitors like Mollie, Adyen, and Stripe. You are actively leaving my money—and the money of thousands of other Dutch merchants—on the table due to product negligence.
To make matters worse, your platform's heavy US bias is incredibly frustrating. Even when creating invoices for my local customers, I cannot properly set the correct currency sign—it defaulted to a dollar sign. How dumb is that for an international platform? My customers expect Euros, not dollars.
After a decade of loyalty, I expect Square to take its European user base seriously and fix these basic global settings.
When will Square finally bridge this gap, support local currencies properly, and integrate iDEAL? It is time to wake up. ⏰⏰⏰
I look forward to a concrete answer, not a generic automated response.
Kind regards,
Square Community
