Package Redemption Deducts Paid Add-Ons Instead Service from package - Separate the ADD-ON & PACKAGE

88f0cc1c-9da6-4755-a120-ce95e0ce815b.jpegWe use Square Appointments with prepaid treatment packages and built-in service add-ons.

When a client redeems a package session, Square applies the package credit to the entire service price, including paid add-ons.

For example:

  • Base treatment: $60 (covered by package)

  • Additional treatment area: $35

  • Square deducts: $95

  • Correct deduction should be: $60, leaving $35 due.

This happens across multiple services.

Is there a way to configure package redemption so that it covers only the base service price and excludes built-in service add-ons?

We need clients to retain the ability to book add-ons online without those add-ons being included in their prepaid package benefits.

+1, that's $35 walking out the door on every package visit with an add-on, so it adds up fast. Square's help article says a package applies "the full value of that booking," so I don't think there's a setting that limits it to the base service yet. Here's what I'd do in the meantime. For package clients, have the front desk open the appointment before checkout and take the add-on off, so the booking is just the base treatment when the package is applied. Then ring the extra area up as its own sale right after, credited to the same provider so their numbers stay right. Clients can still book the add-on online, it just gets moved at checkout. Since this has been happening for a while, it's also worth a one-time look back. Pull the past few months of package redemptions, filter to the visits that had an add-on, and add up the add-on prices. That tells you how much has slipped through so far and whether any clients' packages are running out early because of it.
