Modifier inventory counts, please

I’m submitting this to request that — just like we have running counts for items — we be given the ability to enter counts for modifier tracking/86ing.  The ability to toggle modifiers between in/out of stock is great, but an automated count-down would be very welcome.

Giving modifier count tracking a bump. We desperately need this to help track bagel counts.

Currently we must do manual counts on scratch paper as we run low; which slows down our team. Thank you!

Modifier count tracking would save us so much time and customer disappointment as well!

I'd love to see Product Team give this a close look and prioritize implementation.

This would be a game changer for us as a bagel shop where we track bagel flavors via Modifiers.

Especially with today's multi-channel online world (DoorDash, Square Online, etc), we must be able to sell out Modifiers automatically by tracking their qualities the same way we track Items.

This would be so helpful! We run a flower shop and use modifiers to allow people to upgrade to a specialty card. It's great that we can add a price to that and toggle in/out of stock, but it would be great to be able to have an automated stock countdown, rather than having to manually keep track and update. There's been many times we've accidentally over sold a card because we got a slew of orders in a limited time range and I couldn't mark it out of stock quickly enough. Even better would be the ability to link modifiers directly with a site item so that the title, price, photo and stock don't have to be manually input.

I have been waiting for this for a long time, we need it to accurately cost our menus.

Giving this an end-of-year bump. Would love to see this on the Q1 2026 product roadmap.

Modifier tracking that count down and auto-sell out just as we have at the item level. They could potentially auto-reset at end of day, or stay sold out, depending on what is preferred by the operator. All should be accessible via the Square for Restaurants and POS app.

Essential for bagel flavors, would be applicable to any restaurant that serves limited items via modifiers that sell-out daily like ice cream, doughnuts, barbecue, etc.

Right now the only way to accomplish tracking a modifier is to actually make a whole item for each modifier that needs to be tracked which causes your customers to feel overwhelmed with options right off the bat when looking at your menu online. It also causes staff to have to look through multiple items to find the one needed. This seems trivial but can extend SOS time tremendously in busy times. A variation can be used depending on the scenario but not always. Furthermore, multiple items can pull from the same modifier list which allows the items to be listed independently but also run out of that modifier at the same time. So in those scenarios, you can't even make multiple items based around that modifier because then you have to make the item types into a modifier and there is no way to advertise that.

For Example, my item has a non-tracked modifier and a modifier that needs tracked. This item also comes in 3 sizes which are the variations. So I would have to make an item for each tracked modifier so that the size remains the variation. Otherwise, I have to cross my fingers that we catch when we are sold out and are able to 86 the modifier manually before it is oversold. Furthermore, I have a second item that uses the same tracked modifier. So even if I make the items based around each modifier, I won't be able to use stock tracking to sell out because other items are using those same modifiers and the tracking will not line up across both items.
