How can we exclude an item from the discount ?

Please include a button on each line item/product to exclude an item from a discount. So if we choose to have an item excluded,  we would click on the button that enables it to be excluded. We used to use Shopkeep and they had this function on each line item. So if we choose to exclude an item from a discount, then we can enable it from the item itself.

The workarounds they offer for this issue are useless and stupid. We need to be able to mark items to NOT allow discounts.

This would be incredibly helpful. I know it's possible because I have touchbistro for my other business and it does this!

Thank you for bringing this feature request to the Ideate Board.  There is an option to add an automatic discount on a specific item when creating it on your Dashboard.

@Kassi_ please change the status of this request. It is definitely NOT implemented. It is a highly requested feature that Square has NOT been developed.

Our company may take our $6mil in annual sales to another software vendor if you cannot institute basic controls for discounts.  We need the following:

• Restrict items from discounts (as an option for a category or item)
• Restrict discounts from being combined

The "Automated discount" is NOT the solution to any of these problems. It is NOT a workaround.

I'm looking for the ability to have a non-automatic discount that discounts only certain items and discounts them to different values.

I want to give my staff free concessions, but alcohol at cost. There is no way with the current discount options to do this. I need to discount some items to $0 and some items to a specific dollar amount (which cannot be represented by a percentage).

An earlier thread states that this feature had been delivered but it has not.  We (and pretty much all of your other merchants) need to be able to exclude items from discounts.  In other words, a simple toggle switch in an item set up that reads "do not allow discounts on this item".  We have been asking for this for years!  Please tell us all what the status of this request is.

It would greatly benefit many users to have the ability to exclude certain items from automatic discounts, particularly concerning customer group discounts. For example, there are certain items, such as pallet deposits or products with an already discounted price applied to them, that we do not want to include in any automatic discount.

The ability to designate items as non-discountable entirely would be a valuable addition to the system.

We also need this to be a feature.  We have items that are already so discounted that if they were allowed to be discounted further we would lose money.  Therefore I don't want my employees to be able to use an employee discount on an item that would lose us money.
