How can we exclude an item from the discount ?

Please include a button on each line item/product to exclude an item from a discount. So if we choose to have an item excluded,  we would click on the button that enables it to be excluded. We used to use Shopkeep and they had this function on each line item. So if we choose to exclude an item from a discount, then we can enable it from the item itself.

I would like to suggest that there be a way to NOT allow certain items to be discounted.

For example, at our store, we have a few items that we can't mark up very much, so discounting them would cause us to lose money on those items. There is currently no way to do this and it would help a great deal.

I know that we can add any item to a discount on the square app.  However, there should be an option to EXCLUDE items as well.  For example if I'm setting up a promo and I want to have 20% off everything except for 20 clearance items, I shouldn't have to select all and then find and uncheck those 20 items.

Its a small thing that would save so much time for retailers

This isn't currently planned for the roadmap by our Product Team, but I can see the ease it would provide for your business when using discounts.

This was brought up in 2016, but I think Square has forgotten about it. We really need this to be an option. Specifically I should not be discounting alcohol items at all, ever. Square, please make this happen. Literally having an option of the category page that that specific category is not eligible for any discounts would be great.

Absolutely amazing that it's 2022 and this still hasn't been resolved. You can auto apply a discount to a specific category, but you can't disallow a discount on a category - makes no sense to me. Get your act together Square.

We have been asking for this since we opened in 2018.  This should be an easy fix!!  Necessary compliance feature to support Square customers in states that do not allow discounting on certain types of items.  Much needed feature to prevent loss at the register for all of us.
