Feature Request: Applying Item Modifiers Multiple Times

Hi All,

I'm a new convert and am currently onboarding my own restaurants. Having come from 8 years with Kounta as a specialist channel partner, there is plenty to like with Square for restaurants but some work is required to minimise crazy work arounds.

This is an essential option for both restaurant POS and Online ordering. It is crazy to have to build out 1 x sugar 2 x sugar 3 x sugar or the same for eggs. your modifier lists ends up too long and confusing which simply leads to customer frustration, a poor customer experience and poor adaptation to self serve ordering.

I hope Square with all its resources are significantly quicker than Kounta to develop these simple features that have a big impact.

I look forward to watching the product evolve into the market leader in this space

Kind Regards

I'm only new to Square and run two burger shops.  Multi-modifier requests from customers occur daily!  This is a vital feature for hospitality and listing all the possible outcomes as a workaround is difficult to preempt and noisy for the staff who have to already choose from a big list of modifiers.

Come on Square, I'm quite shocked that this thread started 2 years ago and it still hasn't been fixed.

How is this still not a thing? I'll add another vote to this much needed request

Ability to add x2 extra coffee shots or X2/x3 times sugar is a must for cafe business. And on top i found square not being user friendly which was really easy to build with Lightspeed.

HI Square, this needs escalation with your restaurants team please!

Any update on this, one would think would be a simple fix, 2 Years later..... Tick Tock

Our previous POS system would allow us to use multiple of the same modifier. Why isn't something like is already implemented in a RESTAURANT POS? We need this because we charge for modifiers and customers can order multiple servings of extras.

Example:

Main dish: Scramble Eggs on Toast ($15)

Modifier: + 2 sides of Bacon ($5 x 2)

Modifier: + 2 sides of Hash Brown ($3 x2)

We don't want to type the changes because it's inefficient, and because it doesn't record the price of the modifier.

Thank you for sharing, @kermy

This is a popular feature request that we've been continuing to track feedback for via this ongoing thread. I've gone ahead and moved your post here, so we can be sure you’ll receive an update.

As soon as we have more news to share about this feature, one of our Community Moderators will update this thread with the latest news.

Thank you again for reaching out!

I find it really disappointing that such a highly requested feature still has no updates 2 years later. Just the same generic response each time. I thought maybe when the second generation of Square Restaurants was released it may have been part of the update, considering it’s quite a simple feature to

implement. It’s also interesting to see other new features being prioritised over the community suggested ones. We may have to rethink our choice of POS.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you here, @Parco.

It can be really disappointing when a feature you've been waiting a long time for hasn't been implemented yet. Our engineers receive thousands of feature requests each week, and they work hard to prioritise and introduce as many new features as they can throughout the year.

While it might seem like a simple feature to introduce, there's a lot that goes into ensuring new features integrate seamlessly and work effectively across Square's ecosystem. Our engineers are dedicated to making sure that when we roll out a feature, it truly meets your needs and adds value to your business. This involves thorough testing and, unfortunately, can sometimes take longer than anticipated.

While we'd hate to see you go, we understand that you have to do what's best for your business. Hopefully, we'll have some good news to share soon.

In the meantime, you can read more about the feature request life cycle here.

Now that quantities for modifiers are being tested in the US is there any updates regarding the feature coming to Australia any time soon?
