Hello Square Community,
I am building Cardescu, a UK-based creator donations and memberships platform.
Our platform allows creators to create profiles, receive donations, manage memberships, complete KYC verification, and view transaction history through a central dashboard.
We are currently evaluating Square Connected Sellers, OAuth, app_fee_money and Multi-Party Transactions as our primary payment infrastructure.
Our ideal flow would be:
- Creator signs up on Cardescu.
- Creator completes onboarding and verification through Cardescu.
- Creator activates payments.
- Donors pay on Cardescu.
- Square processes the payment.
- Square keeps its processing fee.
- Cardescu receives its platform fee.
- The remaining funds are automatically settled to the creator.
I would like to understand whether Square supports this type of marketplace architecture.
Specifically:
- Is a separate Square Seller account required for every creator receiving payments?
- Can creator onboarding be embedded into our platform through APIs, or must creators complete onboarding directly with Square?
- Can a platform manage most of the payment experience while Square handles compliance and settlement in the background?
- Is there a Square solution comparable to Stripe Connect Express or Stripe Connect Custom?
- For a creator platform (similar to Patreon, Ko-fi or Streamlabs), what is the recommended Square architecture?
Our goal is to provide the simplest possible experience for creators while remaining compliant and without holding client funds ourselves.
Any guidance from developers or Square team members would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
