Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

This BLOWS MY MIND how this has been going on for years. What is this seller community if they can't get anything done that we ask for. This is an issue that stems back from the beginning and Square has had people report about this issue for YEARS.

I'm looking at this and it appears that The Sellers Community got more attention for coding purposes and launch. But nothing happens when the consumer requests for change. This particular order has been an issue that Square has known about for YEARS and yet it still is not fixed?

If I get another representative contact me after I post this to tell me that this is the way that it is. This is how it works. It cannot do what you're asking for. I will pass this along. I will merge yours with another thread.

Ultimately, you merge with HOW MANY OTHER THREADS discussing the SAME ISSUE for years!

So, as a representative of Square in the division of Seller Community, your product...this forum..."seller community"...merging threads...to the powers above the Seller Community is a success. But what you have here is just a forum that has no weight, and apparently no connection to any coders or anyone that you pass these issues on to that can make change or initiate any corrections that your consumer is...at this point...demanding.  I say that as I look at posts from 2021...and that's just in the first page of what look like more than 7 pages discussing this same exact problem over and over and over.....

Hours and hours have been spent combing over reports and looking at transactions to see which employees need to have their entire commission compensation corrected. All because I cannot go in and change who the sale needs to be attributed to.

This issue should not have ever been an issue and simply correcting a sale by editing who it is attributed to seems to me like a feature that should have been in the original version, the OV 1.0.  I don't know about you all but I know a few coders. It is not my industry. Coding is not my thing. But this seems to be a coding or program writing feature that a teenager could find a right way of coding this and integrating this without much issue.  Its absurd.

In the meantime I'll be sitting in front of pages and pages of printed out transactions looking for corrections that I have to then do because I couldn't make a simple change as the owner of the business to assign sales properly and appropriately.

Just typing this all out is so much more frustrating, as it has made me spend and waste this time making another post to a forum Seller Community that is just a forum where we tell Square what problems we find...... that's all it is, from what I am understanding.

Fix it. it should have been done. You started hearing from your customers YEARS ago about this specific issue.

This is suuupppper frustrating! I hope they fix this soon too! @SoffiaVia

@SoffiaVia i also just realized that when a transaction is applied to the wrong employee and it is refunded and then rang up under the correct employee (realized it before client left) square doesn’t reverse the commission’s 🤦🏼‍♀️  So therefore I still had to correct the commission manually.

@_Violet any update on this after all these requests for years? Is there someone we can contact to get this resolved?

I used square for restaurants in 2020-2022 and you could do that, but apparently in square for appts you cant ... what is wrong here?!?!?!?

Welcome to the Community, @ProperStyles

Thank you for adding your voice to this Feature Request. At the moment, it is still considered a Feature Request.

Another seller has already posted this to our Ideate Board for our Product Team. Since this thread has so many quality comments from other sellers dating back to 2017, I am going to merge it together. This will show the Product Team how long our sellers have been requesting a feature like this.

Has this seriously not been fixed yet? Surely this is a joke

Just read through 8 pages of people urgently requesting this feature with no action from Square. This is nail in the coffin for me, Square is so extremely behind in so many features, appointments was extremely buggy and behind, and now the ENTIRE reports and teams plus feature is completely useless as we can't even ensure the numbers are correct by re-attributing sales? This is such a joke, will be moving on from Sqaure which is laughable because it's such a teeny tiny problem that seems they haven't attempted to amend.

Our salon employees are pretty good at logging into the POS to conduct a transaction but sometimes, someone enters an amount on the keypad which gets unassigned. Without the ability to reassign the transaction to an employee, their tips, commission, and payroll is impossible to get correct. This costs us a lot in time and bookkeeping to get right by first figuring out who conducted the transaction and then manually keeping the record for payroll and taxes. Please force a log in and not allow keypad entry and allow us to reassign transactions after it is closed to fix any errors.

This is a critical feature for our medspa!  The sale needs to be re-attributable so that we can pay the right people at the right time.  If this doesn't get corrected we'll have to move on to a different service.
