Change employee sale attributed to

Our business is a hair salon that operates on commission. Sometimes our employees mis-attribute sales to other people who did not complete the sale. We need a way to edit these transactions and assign them to the correct employee for both accounting and payroll purposes. Because we use Payroll with commission, the employees who did not complete the sale end up getting paid, and the ones who actually made the sale do not. This is unacceptable.

This is affecting my business as well. I need to be able to edit the sale attributed feature.

Our business needs the ability to change sales attributes or be able to split one ticket between two or more of the employees.

If this issue is resolved then we would consider using the payroll platform as well. To date we calculate commission and tips manually and use Quick Books payroll.

@Kassi_ @_Violet @AshleyK @isabelle any update here? I'm sure @kpay1 has some dev issues with changing anything about a transaction once complete (without issuing a refund), but simple change the "Sales Attributed To:" field doesn't impact anything on the customer side.

It's purely for tip routing and honestly is pretty JV for a retail payroll system not to make this a simple drop-down change option. It creates a lot of additional steps and manual math needed to resolve this each time.

This happens all the time for our business. We just signed up for Square Payroll and are really disappointed this isn't possible. Please consider escalating this feature request!

Going on 4 years now waiting for this feature. It’s really not that complicated, Square!

This is such a headache issue. I am considering switching platforms because this issue happens so often. When a stylist adjusts their clients services it defaults to me ( the owner ) if they dont catch the issue there's nothing I can do and it throws all the reports off, my pay roll and causes me more expenses in accounting time. I am very frustrated with this.

Still waiting Square.  Is there a Square web developer who is interested in this issue?

Followers, keep commenting - it's our only hope.

Come on Square!

If this was a open source platform, a skilled dev. / seller would have devised a patch for this already and made a little bank selling it. Or add an extra field for sale or tip attribution and add it to the filter capabilities in Reporting.

There's got to be some star in your organization that can address this and get us all off your backs. Does anyone care about customer satisfaction any more?

bump to this topic, many sellers are needing this fix. ^^^

Spoiler
bump, because this is STILL an issue in 2025.
