Allow for Invoice & Check Payment Methods for Square Online Orders

Hi Square Team & Fellow Sellers,

I’d love to request a feature enhancement for Square Online: the ability to offer Invoice and Check as payment methods at checkout.

Many of us operate in communities where customers prefer or require more traditional or offline payment options—especially for things like nonprofit donations, orders from large institutions, or custom bulk purchases. While invoices and check payments are already available through Square’s POS and Invoices tools, there’s currently no seamless way to offer these as checkout options on Square Online.  Many of our customers are hospitals that require due diligence processes with Accounts Payable, and thus require invoices.  It would make so much more sense to allow people to shop on Square Online, add items to cart, and then simply select "Send me an invoice" or "I'll pay by check".

Why This Would Help:

  • Creates a more unified experience for both customers and sellers.

  • Reduces order friction for those not using credit/debit cards.

  • Allows businesses with mixed payment workflows (like nonprofits or B2B sellers) to keep everything in one place.

Ideally, customers could:

  • Choose "Invoice Me" at checkout (which triggers an automatic Square invoice to their email)

  • Or choose "Pay by Check" and get follow-up instructions

This would be a game changer for those of us who need more flexibility beyond card payments, Apple Pay, and Cash App.

Thanks for considering this! Would love to hear if others would benefit from this too.

Yes, this! My partner and I were just talking about this option at check out! We own a candy business and would love to have distributors or our wholesale accounts be able to order what they want online with the option to be "invoiced" or "pay by check".
