Add Ons for Appointments

Hello there,

Is there any chance of an option to use add ons for appointments being in the works? For instance, the customer selects the service on the first part of the form, then goes to add ons for that service before the customer info form.

The current possible work around for this is to have 10s and 10s of drop down options with various combinations of add ons, which is not only tedious to set up, but a bad and confusing UX for the customer.

It's not only a chance to upsell for us, but will inflate the transaction amount to increase Square's revenue, and it would undoubtedly steal users away from a competitor (I won't name them so this doesn't appear as an advert) which only has paid options, but offers this feature.

Square is better than them in every way, but it's really hard to justify using it when it's missing this feature which would leave too much money on the table.

I saw a post on here from 2019 where there were several posts saying this was being looked at or in development, but can't find anything on the topic so here I am.

I honestly feel as if though Square could have, should have, & would have incorporated this feature by now if they really had any concern for the actual small business owners. This is a very minimal feature, we have been begging for some time now.  Loss of revenue, confusion throughout the menu, no real menu customization options at all.
I own a full service salon. The Look. www.TheLook.Boutique/Booking

I have tried the modifier route, customers can’t see them, only I can. I’ve tried variations, further confusing my clients & menu. I’ve tried options. No real workaround that I have time to figure out. I not a app developer, I am a cosmetologist. Maybe someone can help me. I’ve actually slowed down on adding my services, because I am unsure if I want to fully continue on, without any real application support & development.

Hey there, @Glootz

Thank you for starting the conversation about bringing Add-Ons as options for the Appointments platform. All of the sellers in the thread have provided excellent insight for our Product Team and how needed something like this is.

I don't have an update for this on the Appointments roadmap, but our Product Team will give it a review. They will give our Team more information to update the status to keep everyone in the loop.

Appreciate all of the chatter about this on. Keep it coming!

Please give us this option soon we run a mobile IV company and would like to offer our Vitamin Injections as add-ons to our service appointments.  This is HUGE for our company and would be excited if this was completed soon!

Thanks engineering team 🙂

Guys,

Square will never do this.

They only choose to make the easiest of updates to the system. This department of Square is underfunded, and Square C Suite would rather lick sandpaper than properly fund Square appointments software upgrades. SANDPAPER!!! Maybe Square will launch Square Sandpaper before they make this upgrade.

For example, Do you want to customize text messages? NOPE!

How about customizing your booking fields? NOPE!!

Please accept the fact that Square will NEVER make this update.

They will probably ban me because they are so sensitive and spineless. Instead of looking themselves in the mirror and making updates customers requested over eight years ago, they would rather do the very least possible.

I recommend you seriously consider moving from Square appointments.
I'm 40% towards moving away with new tools in place of Square appointments.

Could a publicly traded company try any less hard?

@hydrabot I'm not sure how it helps to criticize on multiple posts saying the same thing. If Square is spineless, why are you still working with them? Wouldn't it be more constructive to work together to find a solution? As a Beta member, you can see that Square is trying to implement suggestions from sellers, providing a path forward.
Let's keep focused on solutions, yea?

Please add this feature to appointments. I have seen requests for this feature for years, but no updates. It makes a huge difference for service based businesses, as others have mentioned.

My personal use-case: I am a braider, and when clients book appointments, they also need to select the hair color, any additional style options they'd like done and the length they prefer. There is no way for them to do this once they have selected their service. They have to add an additional service to  and I also ask them to leave their color preference in the notes, but we know that people do not read, so I am left spending precious time reaching out to every client who books asking these questions. If they had the ability to simply add it on when they book, this would lead to increased revenue, a more seamless user experience, and saved time!

I agree - I haven't found a work around for this that actually works. What ends up happening:

select service > drop down options with different timing > select additional service as an add on.

But as mentioned in other comments above, what really ends up happening is extra time on our end reaching out when if this was added as a feature, it would be such a time saver and increase revenue on our end!

It funny that there have been request dating back from 2018 for to add modifiers to Services (which you can add but does not work) or Add-ons within the selected Service for Square Appointments, which most others appt scheduler now do offer. - the Key is to simplify, if the customer has to scroll through alot of Services to start off with you will lose that potential customer in a few minutes.

I was with Square Appointments for about 1-1/2 yrs and also asked for this request as well (Add-on to the selected service) but ended up creating a work around vs having another category selection or combos before deciding to just use another scheduler with the feature that works for me, a barber.

I been thinking about returning to Square Appts because I like the fact it is the only appointment scheduler that works with service duration times and not set intervals that really eliminate gaps.

But I noticed 2yrs later while resetting things up - this is still not an option while Square Online continues to forever grow with changes or updates.

Would this be something that can be implemented or not!

Thanks.

Hey there, @Wilyem -

I am merging your feature request with an existing post by another seller.

I’ve gone ahead and changed the status of this feature request to “Open”. You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective.

This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products. As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know.
