Add Ons for Appointments

Add Ons for Appointments

Hello there,

Is there any chance of an option to use add ons for appointments being in the works? For instance, the customer selects the service on the first part of the form, then goes to add ons for that service before the customer info form.

The current possible work around for this is to have 10s and 10s of drop down options with various combinations of add ons, which is not only tedious to set up, but a bad and confusing UX for the customer.

It's not only a chance to upsell for us, but will inflate the transaction amount to increase Square's revenue, and it would undoubtedly steal users away from a competitor (I won't name them so this doesn't appear as an advert) which only has paid options, but offers this feature.

Square is better than them in every way, but it's really hard to justify using it when it's missing this feature which would leave too much money on the table.

I saw a post on here from 2019 where there were several posts saying this was being looked at or in development, but can't find anything on the topic so here I am.

@hydrabot I'm not sure how it helps to criticize on multiple posts saying the same thing. If Square is spineless, why are you still working with them? Wouldn't it be more constructive to work together to find a solution? As a Beta member, you can see that Square is trying to implement suggestions from sellers, providing a path forward.
Let's keep focused on solutions, yea?

Please add this feature to appointments. I have seen requests for this feature for years, but no updates. It makes a huge difference for service based businesses, as others have mentioned.

My personal use-case: I am a braider, and when clients book appointments, they also need to select the hair color, any additional style options they'd like done and the length they prefer. There is no way for them to do this once they have selected their service. They have to add an additional service to  and I also ask them to leave their color preference in the notes, but we know that people do not read, so I am left spending precious time reaching out to every client who books asking these questions. If they had the ability to simply add it on when they book, this would lead to increased revenue, a more seamless user experience, and saved time!

I agree - I haven't found a work around for this that actually works. What ends up happening:

select service > drop down options with different timing > select additional service as an add on.

But as mentioned in other comments above, what really ends up happening is extra time on our end reaching out when if this was added as a feature, it would be such a time saver and increase revenue on our end!

It funny that there have been request dating back from 2018 for to add modifiers to Services (which you can add but does not work) or Add-ons within the selected Service for Square Appointments, which most others appt scheduler now do offer. - the Key is to simplify, if the customer has to scroll through alot of Services to start off with you will lose that potential customer in a few minutes.

I was with Square Appointments for about 1-1/2 yrs and also asked for this request as well (Add-on to the selected service) but ended up creating a work around vs having another category selection or combos before deciding to just use another scheduler with the feature that works for me, a barber.

I been thinking about returning to Square Appts because I like the fact it is the only appointment scheduler that works with service duration times and not set intervals that really eliminate gaps.

But I noticed 2yrs later while resetting things up - this is still not an option while Square Online continues to forever grow with changes or updates.

Would this be something that can be implemented or not!

Thanks.

Hey there, @Wilyem -

I am merging your feature request with an existing post by another seller.

I’ve gone ahead and changed the status of this feature request to “Open”. You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective.

This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products. As more information becomes available, a Community moderator will come in and change the status letting all of the subscribed sellers know.

@Kassi_
Very exciting that the status has changed to Open.
What exactly does that mean for us on our end? Maybe something we can hope for in the next quarter? By the end of the year?
Thanks!

As a self employed nail technician, add-ons/modifiers for services would make my life 1000x easier. This would make my booking site simple, sleek, and dummy proof.

I specialize in nail art which can range from 1 finger to all 10 fingers, and that can affect the duration of the service by anywhere between 10 minutes and 2 hours. This feature would allow me to keep my service options to a minimum, instead of having 10 different variations for each amount of fingers, on top of the other popular variations I have.

Bottom line is, my site looks messy without this feature. The redundant amount of options creates confusion for my not so tech savvy clients, and I end up having to manually enter in appointments anyway. Which is exactly what I wanted to eliminate when I signed up with square appointments. It’s the sole purpose, actually. Why else am I paying a monthly subscription? I might as well go back to a paper planner.

I’m not sure how many people have to request a feature for it to be taken seriously, but it’s starting to look like the seller community is a dead end based off of the amount of business owners who’ve begged for this feature since 2018.

This is absolutely necessary. Please please please add it, we're in mid 2023 and people have been asking for 5 years.

As a Massage Therapist this is exactly what I need! I offer a number of "add-ons" but because square makes it difficult to off them I have to list them all separately as individual massage services, it's such a pain on my end and takes money away from my business and square.
