Add Ons for Appointments

Hello there,

Is there any chance of an option to use add ons for appointments being in the works? For instance, the customer selects the service on the first part of the form, then goes to add ons for that service before the customer info form.

The current possible work around for this is to have 10s and 10s of drop down options with various combinations of add ons, which is not only tedious to set up, but a bad and confusing UX for the customer.

It's not only a chance to upsell for us, but will inflate the transaction amount to increase Square's revenue, and it would undoubtedly steal users away from a competitor (I won't name them so this doesn't appear as an advert) which only has paid options, but offers this feature.

Square is better than them in every way, but it's really hard to justify using it when it's missing this feature which would leave too much money on the table.

I saw a post on here from 2019 where there were several posts saying this was being looked at or in development, but can't find anything on the topic so here I am.

Hi, I would love to havea feature where square offers and upsell/add on when clients schedule online. I want to offer 15 minute increment add ons to the the sessions that the book themselves.

Hi @VectorMin! We moved your post over to our Appointments Feature Request board so that our team can better track this.

Could you provide some more information on how having this feature would be helpful for your business and why you would want your customers to have this ability? The more information we have, the better our Product Team can understand!

Is this feature being worked on? This is an extremely essential feature for service providers as we need our clients to be encouraged, or at least presented with the option to upgrade their service to increase our revenue.

I came to the feature request today hoping to find someone also looking for this add on feature that would reflect on our booking pages.

We are a nail salon and I would like to share why the add-on feature is so important for us, and would cut down on a lot of booking errors & extra communication. These are the questions we currently HAVE to ask our clients AFTER they send in a booking request online, which kinda defeats the purpose of making it easier on our team (not complaining too much though, it's awesome to have a pending request and some info then no online booking at all.)

Example: Shelly books a manicure

(we have 6 variations) (3 tiers & lacquer/gel)

Client must weed through to see if they want tier 1/2/or 3, then they have to select the right option that is gel or lacquer.

It would be nice if the client just had the tier options to decide on THEN the add on would be GEL.

This would mean we have 3 service tiers instead of 6.

Currently our options are

Tier1 mani lacquer

Tier 1 mani Gel

Tier 2 mani lacquer

xxx

(We also have this for pedicures so its the same thing AGAIN! (Adding to a long list of services)

The next set of options which they must book separately are the removals of gel, nail art add ons, extended massage, any repairs, the list goes on and on.

As you see it not only changes the price of the service but also the TIME of service, and needing to add this on separately leaves room for a lot of mistakes or loss of money.

Currently if our team does not go back and call to confirm every single appointment we will have clients come in booked for a tier1 manicure with lacquer wanting to get a "tier1 manicure with gel add on plus gel removal, plus nail art, plus extended massage" without us ever knowing from online booking.

We always have little reminders on the description to book removal but as most know, not everyone reads the fine print.

I feel as there are other platforms that integrate this well into their system (like user above I don't think it's important to mention them)  it is a great feature for appointment based business.  This helps with ease of booking experience for the client as well as giving the business a much more organized service option. When clients have add on features with a click of ONE button, it makes it easier without then needing to go back to the main screen to find the add on that they want.

With this reply today I will be adding a request for customization of service time per different service providers since there are different tier skill levels in our salon, with the option of also changing the price of service according to the expertise of the provider.  IE master nail tech vs Jr nail tech vs apprentice service.

No matter when this request will finally be integrated: I want to mention that I believe its incredible to see so many businesses needing the same features, it means we are all growing and learning how to utilize this amazing system and now seeing how we can really use it even better. I want to thank og @Glootz for taking the time to put this request in. Like you, I also did a bunch of searching from previous forums, and am patiently kindly waiting.

Oh my gosh yes!! I couldn't agree with you both more! I've found a few workarounds, but you're absolutely right!

I offer day-of add-ons and it would be really helpful to have them be a quick add-on with timing also being accounted for on my schedule.

I am also coming here to add to the request for this feature. It will greatly benefit our business.

It will also be great if add-ons have a custom duration associated so when adding them they also increase total appointment duration to accurately represent schedule availability

I own a salon and have used Square for at least 10 years. It is perfect in every way except for one:  I would like clients to be able to add options to services and service variations.

I offer some services that can be customized with add-ons. For example, I offer 8 variations of facials and also offer 17 options that can be added on to any facial. I currently have 'Facials > Facial Variations' and then 'Facial Enhancements > Facial Enhancements Variations' as separate services with variations. Facial Enhancements must be booked along with a Facial. From the Facial Enhancements, clients can only choose one variation when booking online even though they may want to choose more than one.

If I list the enhancements as separate services instead of variations of a service, my menu becomes too long and confusing for clients to scroll through. Clients will also sometimes choose enhancements as a stand alone service, whether they are listed as separate services or service variations. Adding instructions to these enhancements does not help because clients don't always read. When this happens, I have to go through the trouble of contacting the client, explaining the issue and correcting it.

I feel as if I’m losing out on revenue since most of my clients book online and are limited to choosing only one add-on for a service, if they do at all since they have to find the add-one in a different set of service variations. Up-selling during the appointment is not always possible due to time constraints.

Don't restaurants have options like these? When will we?

yea the drop downs definitely do suck even for different variations per service

so for my barbers in the business we have different pricing and if some one books thru the system on first available  some staff is missing to based on what variation the client books. i feel that we lose revenue aswell on the order of booking such. i also feel the staff member and menu pricing should all be don't the same page or the staff page should be first in line.

*First available or staff selection

*Secondary the primary services

*Third add-ons

I have checked existing threads and the last activity for this request was over a year ago. Service add-ons that are both viewable and bookable by customers online and through booking flow tool would substantially boost revenue for my detailing business and other service based businesses alike. There is a work around, but customers are more likely not to elect for these add on services when showing up for service. It is both costly and exhausting wasting time explaining add on services to customers every time they come in or over the phone only for them not to go with the add on after all is said. Customers are more likely to book an add on when they originally book the appt. Knowing that I could see a substantial increase in revenue for something square does not offer is so frustrating.

YES!   We need this.  It would make it so much easier to upsell at the appointment level and increase sales.  I had this feature with my last online booking service and it really made a difference.
