As 2025 comes to an end, what are some of your business or personal goals you are looking to achieve for 2026? Are you looking to hire more employees? Maybe expand or start another business? Maybe you are looking to step back and take a little R&R for your personal well being?
For me, I have a plate full I am looking to do! I slow down for a few weeks in February, so I picked up a laser engraver to help me stay productive during this time (don't really care about turning a profit on it) as I am mainly looking to use this to promote my current business, and learn with my son at the same time so he can take over that part of it on his time after school.
I am also looking at a piece of land to build a larger garage, more bays with a customer waiting/show room for auto accessories.
I am hoping to utilize more of the Square Marketing aspect in an attempt to get people in the doors earlier in the year so that my fall time isn't so chaotic, with the possibility of trying to incorporate the loyalty program.
What are your goals?
That is awesome. Best of luck with the introduction of those, I think it will be a great addition to offer.
A coffee subscription box does sound fun! I would also like to hear how Square subscriptions are going for others.
2026 - I am hoping to do an expansion on our shop. We have been planning it for a couple of years, and I am starting to feel like next year is right. If anyone has done this before any helpful tips about doing a construction expansion I would love to hear them.
We are also looking to hire one more full-time employee and one more part time.
We work with a coaching business in the hospitality space which has helped us tick off some bigger boxes over the last few years. My big goal is to get to a point in the next few years to sell our business (Restaurant and Food trucks), however I started a side business that I am still growing, producing gifts and timber items like end grain chopping boards, Ring boxes, Personalised gifts, etc. I use a laser etcher/cutter and a lot of other carpentry equipment-my background is in carpentry.
As for the current business, we want to grow and develop our business along the lines of our vision which is "To bring people together through authentic food, genuine connection, and a sense of belonging-creating a community that grows together, one pizza at a time!" We have a lot of plans to implement along creating communitieis and improving our own community-our team and our local supporters/family. So my goals are:
1. We are aiming to increase our average sale and my plan is to do this through consistent and regular marketing using square email marketing-wish I could use text message marketing as it is a very big part of my current marketing mix.
2. We also need to focus more on our loyalty program, as our loyal customers are the ones that spend the most. Becuase of someone elses post in the community I did a deep dive on our customers (We have over 26k customers on our records) and get this. 0.001% of our customers provide 1/7th of our total sales. That's wild!
3. I really want to learn to use Square's functionality to build our business more-I just wish some of the functionality was available in Australia! I'm specifically looking at Delivery using square, or delivery in house, improving customer experience and overcoming some of the specific challenges we have created with ordering for our customers.
4. I want to use square to help with my specific goals but also to train my managers to use its functionality to help them in their roles.
5. I want to be a part of helping others in this community grow-I already help others in our Coaching group and so many have switched to square this year becuase they have had others they know recommend it! If you haven't realised it yet, community is so important to me and we are all in so many different communities! I need to learn how to contribute more, but contribution is what I want to achieve this year!
6. We are hoping to achieve greater success with our marketing using a variety of tools to get our message out to our local community and our wider community. There's aspects of our business like our Catering boxes and our food truck catering that has great potential that I'm not currently achieving.
7. I also have some personal goals, such as reading and learning more. @isabelle your number of books read inspires me-I have a stack next to my bed that I have started and never finished- I need to get onto this.
Thanks for this thread. It's always good to plan for the new year around now but sharing your goals can help you focus more on them.
I just picked up the F2 myself a few weeks ago. Haven't really had a whole lot of time to dedicate to it just yet, but the time I have has been fun.
@Minion I have so much fun creatingg and designing with miine. I'm looking to get a larger CO2 laser as mine are just Diode's at this stage, but it's a lot of fun working with them. Hope you get some time soon to play with yours.
We turned 61 this year and we are slowly cutting out fairs, currently we work 8 fairs a year. 2026 we are cutting one out, 2027 we are cutting another out. Our goal is to work regions instead of traveling everywhere. We will have 3 regions after 2027. Florida, North Carolina and Iowa/Minnesota. Retirement is not in the near future for use, we enjoy the work, travel and money too much.
Its good to see that you still enjoy the work, even while cutting a few of them out. How long are the fairs that you attend? Our local one runs about 10 days, which besides the state fair I think is one of the longer ones in our area.
January and February are my slow months. I'm going to use that time to reorganize my product storage. I have a system that works ok but I've been giving some thought to what would make it better, more streamlined. I'll also be running the numbers to identify which existing products are sunsetting and need to be removed, and working on some new product designs.

I can relate there. I have some some things I need to tweak on my end as well, possibly even adding in contracts prior to service being done. Similar to your late January to mid February is my slower time and really the only ideal time I can make these changes.
Currently, my main business goal for 2026 is to leave Square for a processor that offers support. Looking like I will save some money too.

Everyone loves to save money! Best of luck with your business ventures and hoping you have a great 2026.
@BTS-Decatur We would hate to see you leave. Though this forum is not support directly from Square, I don’t think you would find another processing company that would have a support forum anywhere near what we offer here.
We all are looking to save money, I would suggest making sure there is no hidden fees or monthly fees.
2026 is shaping up to be a big year for us at Empanada City.
We’re excited to be opening our third Brooklyn location, and we’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from the communities we serve. Brooklyn has been home from day one, and growing here means everything to us.
At the same time, we’re continuing to grow Gegsy, our mobile app platform built specifically for Square merchants. If you’re looking to launch a branded mobile app that works seamlessly with Square—loyalty, catering, pickup and delivery, real-time order tracking, marketing—we’d love for you to check us out. We offer affordable plans designed to fit businesses of all sizes, and both merchants and customers love the experience. You can find us on the Square App Marketplace.
Wishing all our fellow Square sellers a successful and prosperous 2026. Here’s to continued growth and great things ahead. 🚀
Congrats @balmonte That is great to see the support behind you to be able to open up a 3rd location. Truly means those long days and nights are paying off.
We are promoting healthy nutritional information for women and girls during pregnancy and postpartum depression so mothers have a thriving relationship with the babies and their fathers after a traumatic pregnancy.
I've decided that 2026 will either be a milestone for me as I ease into "retirement," or it will make me decide that enough is enough. Ha. First, in about four weeks we will be moving to a new venue. It's just a block away, so it won't affect our traffic at all. We've been in the same venue for thirteen years and have more than outgrown it. My walls are floor-to-ceiling storage and I've run out of room for anything here. Honestly, I'm not sure how we've managed to double our annual sales over the past three years yet still remain in the same space. Our new space will have dedicated supply storage, indoor seating and an outdoor seating area that is nearly triple the size of our current one. And it has space for us to grow even more and have party/meeting rooms should we decide to go that route.
If everything goes according to my evil master plan, I will only be present in the ice cream shop until sometime in April or May. At 65, I find that I just don't have the energy or the desire to be in a customer-facing position any longer. It might sound odd for someone in customer service, but the older I get the more I find I just don't like people as much these days. My employees (teens and early twenties) handle it just fine, and I need to let them do what they do best. Of course, I'll still be doing all of the back office work, ordering and managing. But at least that won't require having to grit my teeth at the endless litany of dumb questions (all of which are usually answered by our menu.....).
Otherwise, we are expanding our menu somewhat, which is always fun. It that evil master plan pans out, that means I can start the next phase of retirement -- getting the business, books and such in order to finally sell it to a new owner. It's finally to the point that a new owner can make a decent living off of it, as long as they are realistic about the fact that it will still be a full-time job for them. Heck, if things go perfectly, one of my grandchildren might find themself on the receiving end of an early inheritance. Who knows? LOL.
