Tip Splitting Percentages

At most bars/restaurants different employees are tipped out different percentages.  Ex. Hostess might get 10%, Barbacks 20%, Bartenders get 70% etc.

The current options have it just equal for everyone which isn't how most restaurants or bars operate.   Need to implement a percentage amount when selecting tips & hourly rate for each employee type.

@_Violet Following up if there is any update on the feature being added. We have added a full-service kitchen to our brewery's second location, and kept square as all of our invoicing is currently done through it. Calculating tip share manually is way too time consuming!

This is a feature my business desperately needs. I have two establishments and I have to filter the sales by times and manually calcuate percentages for my busser / dishwashers & bar. Extremely difficult when trying to close at the end of the night.

Anyone know how to get this accomplished?   Square isn’t responding to our requests even though this is very important to our business and employees.    Has anyone switched to another POS platform that has this feature and if so please share what you’re using.  Thank you!

I am disappointed to see this was requested almost a year ago and still not implemented. This is a critcial capability for all pooled full service restaurants.  The current tip pool feature in Square for Restaurants is absoutely uselsess.  Toast has exactly what is needed with their Tip Pool Manager. I know that this probably will not be of interest to everyone, but there is a solution using a third-party integration with Square.  It is called Tip Haus.  Before someone has a heart attack when they look at it, YES it does have a monthly charge of $129.  But it is a full featured tip management app.  It has been mentioned by some that Toast has this feature.  What has not been mentioned is that to use it you must first be subscribed to a monthly paid tier of toast.  Then you must be a Toast Payroll customer and you must be enrolled in Toast Team Management.  Once all of those requirements are met, then you would be allowed to add on Toast’s tip management for yet another monthly fee.  Trust me when I say it is not cheap.

The point is yes, the options are available — another POS system (Toast, Revel, etc), a Square add-on, even your own spreadsheet.  All of them will have a cost because, quite frankly, tip pool management is very complicated, as anyone who ever tried to do it in a spreadsheet will tell you.  It is very possible that Square will analyze the cost they’d have to pass on to customers and decide to leave this firmly in the hands of third party developers like Tip Haus.  Sometimes that a much better option for companies like Square.  We’ll see.  I do know that Square is like most big companies — they aren’t moved by threats of moving to competitors.  That happens every day for lots of reasons.  All anyone can do is suggest something, make their case, and wait for the results, or not.  If it’s truly a deal breaker, and if a third party option is not acceptable, then it sounds like the decision is obvious.

Is there any progress on this???????????? Its such a basic feature, along with shift COVER (not just trade), and its baffling that Square doesnt have either. The most basic free POS, apps, scheduling systems offer these things. The list of disappointment for switching over to Square just keeps growing - Wish I had known about these before, but its hard to think of every single little detail when dealing with the sales rep.

Is there any update on this? I too need to set the % of tips per team member. They shouldn't all receive the same percentage.
