Loan Process 2025

Good Evening ALL & Happy New Year! I just have a quick question.

Our Co has been with Square for a few years now. We had our PPP Loan through Square, and we also have had multiple Loans Offered & Approved that were all paid off early. On our latest Loan Offer, it seems like the approval process is taking much longer than usual. We are at 5 business days 2day, and still at pending status? No other info has been requested. And our other Loans usually were approved in 1 or 2 days and then funded the next day. I’m just wondering if this is something new in 2025? And also, if any other of you folks may be having the same issue? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Bob

Mine tend to be more Saturday offers than any other day of the week. Our busiest days are Wednesday-Sat and I tend to get a late night Saturday offers than any other day.

I actually have a question for you so I got my second loan offer two weeks ago and it was less than my first offer but the few weeks leading up to me getting my offer literally no card payments except for a few here and there most people were paying cash so I understand why the offer was low. My question is do you think it would be stupid of me to pay this loan off and then that way the algorithm could see because since I’ve got that loan, I’ve had nothing but card payments. It’s back to how it was before I got the loan.

Hey @Kacey_W

So I personally would advise against doing that for a few different reasons.  First one being the most important one is the fees that you are going to eat for practically nothing in return.  It would be like throwing away all of that money literally.  Second reason I wouldn't go this route is that it can take  10 business days for the funds to clear, and the loan to be paid off.  You then get tossed back into the algorithm and an offer is not guaranteed at any point in time regardless of paying it off.

If I were you, I would just do business as normal, and when it pays off, it pays off. But that is just y .02 though.  I would do/take what you can with that loan that was offered, recoup the fee;s that were spent and then hopefully your next offer when that is paid off if you decide to take it is the amount you are looking for if needed!

Same! I thought it was just me. I go to my dashboard and then my bank to look for the deposit. I can tell through my dashboard on my old loan when it updated and approved before I get it. The circle goes to zero and old loan is in with the previous loan and paid off.

Unfortunately, yes we have a handful of paid off ones. But like the amazing lady who posted under you. She recently received hers and she was paid off. She is a super trooper! Always positive, and very happy to see when others received offers. A great example of how patience paid off good for her!

The longer you're with Square the more data it collects with processing and it adjusts to give you the best loan size for you to meet the payments and terms. I weigh out the good vs the bad things and no matter what it comes down to me if it isn't broken don't fix it. That's why I have stayed so long. I know that I swipe a card and that money hits my account every night between 5:05-5:15 pm and that's important to me from the beginning. The rest is all big pluses.

Reporting my experience. I'm at 82% all metrics are good and I had a good influx of business last week. Still no new loan offer or credit offer. I'm on my 3rd loan. Just playing the waiting game.

I remember loan numbers 2-4 (this was a very long time ago), but they did tend to take longer. You are just starting to establish yourself with Square and building a relationship. The algorithm is collecting data from your processing history. My best advice is to keep pushing forward and knock out those numbers, keep swiping away. Also, the amount per transaction is key, and getting or gaining new customers is a big plus! Your history will continue to improve the longer you are with Square. Try to keep all the negatives down. No chargebacks, returns, disputes, etc. Unfortunately, sometimes those are out of our control and they happen. Less is better in that area. It’s nice to see so many semi-new users on here! So let me say welcome and nice to meet you! Good luck to you, and please keep us posted on how it goes.

I agree with @Minion 100% also, square wants to see history, and by keeping it that is what it is doing. I think I asked you before if whatever is your top card sales rather its a dye and highlights vs the kid's haircut can you offer a 5% discount if you use your preferred card sale? Watch your numbers and see if doable or don't add the % if you know what is your number 1 card transaction and just push that. I am trying to think outside of the box here. I look back at my first 3-4 loans and they were low as well but I knew from here I had to build a relationship and then as the business grew so did my offers. Now, if I take one I try to pay it off around 60-65%. That's just myself and my experiences with loans. I tend to wait now for the right one or closer to winter my slower months just in case. But I would let this ride for a bit at least and see how fast your cards are paying it off and then go from there. I agree with @Minion now you would be in a payday loan situation and fees would kill you and without a guarantee that the next one would be higher especially so fast. IMO I would let it ride and watch it. Good luck and keep me posted! I hope your husband is doing better and healed up!

Perfect thank you!!! This is my first time dealing with loans let alone a second loan. Still a learning curve for me!! I did notice my last loan payment was the 25th of each month and a % was taken from each sale and this new loan is a 60 day minimum payment kinda thing. Like my minimum payment for the 60 days was paid off in 2 days. So what the other 58 days just keeps paying it off? It’s all confusing to me now cause it changed.

All card transactions they will take a percentage towards your loan balance, if they see that your doing a lot of card transactions and the amount your business is making that helps towards raising your future loan, they want to make sure your loan isn’t a burden on you, and your business is healthy, speaking on myself I’ve been with square for 4 months, my first loan was offered my very first month, I’ve met the 10k threshold, so they offered me 2600, my first loan was paid off within a month, my second loan was 10k more I didn’t accept so they took it back within three days, on the 7-8 day they offered another gigantic amount, which I took, now I’m sure it’ll be paid off within the next 3-4 months. I do a lot of card and big transactions so they take a hefty amount towards loan.

Yes, each day that processes cards it takes the percentage you agreed to for that loan.  If you didn't process any that day they don't take money out.

Hi again,

Nothing yet. I'm at 86% and it looks like my green markers changed to show my processing went down. Just had a busy few days so it should go back to green. My dashboard hasn't updated in 3 days so I'm waiting on that.  I have about 900 left on my loan so it should be paid off soon. Really wish I could gain some more capital, but just being patient for now.

That is about all you can do! Unfortunately, it's out of our hands when the algorithm picks you off. I am always the same as you are, it is out of control and I can't force anyone to move it along any faster. I wish we had that ability. Just keep watching your dashboard they show there faster than the emails do. Keep pushing forward with your business and it will come back to you. Good luck and thanks for the update!
