Clearly decreased loan activity 2026

Apparently Square has decided loans are no longer a priority.

I've had several Square loans over the years. Historically, I'd be offered a new loan once I reached around 50–60% paid off. I'm currently at 92% paid, and my business metrics are stronger than they've ever been—yet there's not a loan offer in sight.

At the same time, processing fees have increased, but there don't seem to be any new financial advantages or incentives for loyal businesses. It's starting to make me seriously consider exploring other payment processors that provide better value and support for small businesses.

Loyalty should work both ways.

Hi @TheLizardGuy

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

I understand how frustrating this must be, especially given your history with Square Loans and your strong business metrics.

Square Loans are offered by invitation, and eligibility is largely based on current payment processing data. Because businesses are dynamic, eligibility can change frequently and we're unable to guarantee offers. Our system evaluates accounts on an ongoing basis using a unique formula that balances multiple factors of your business.

We can't predict if or when your business may become eligible for an additional loan, but we will continue to monitor your account. If you become eligible, we'll notify you through your Square Dashboard and email.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us directly!
