fees

so clover automatically charges the customer the fees to use the card why do yall not do that so like if they use cash it's the regular price if they use the card the 2.6% + 15c is charged to them not us. Everyone in this state charges processing fees to the customer but when we started using yall that option is not available.

You do have the option with Square to pass the credit card fees to your customers if that is what you want to do. It's called a surcharge. Suggest checking out the details here. As for Clover, they also have the same option - it has to be enabled within your Clover Account to be active. (Note: Some States prohibit credit card surcharges and convenience fees.)

@JK_Fiber_Art  Sure, you do have the "option" with Square to pass the credit card fees to your customers if you want to take the time to manually calculate the surcharge fees for every single credit card transaction and THEN manually add that amount to the transaction...

That's not a real option.

@gmrsdreamhaven was asking about Square adding surcharge fees automatically, just like clover and other systems already do.  Many of us in the seller community would like to see this happen with Square.

@Stanley thank you I'm so happy someone agrees with me it's crazy that that isn't an option here I wish I would have screenshot the conversation I had with the square employee where she was telling me it's illegal to charge a fee to a customer etc.

@gmrsdreamhaven I believe it's only illegal in Connecticut and Massachusetts.  Are you in either one of those states?

There are a few other states with anti-surcharge laws that are not enforceable due to current court rulings.

No I'm not in those states and you are correct

Hello @gmrsdreamhaven,

I appreciate you reaching out and do understand your concern. Most payment processors are required to charge a processing fee. I am going to be completely transparent I don't see Square getting rid of the processing fee anytime soon because it's against the law in some places. I am sorry for any inconvenience and hope you find our included features and business tools valuable enough to stay with us. If you need anything else please let us know!
