Test Partial Payments in the Invoices Request Deposit Beta

Hey everyone!

I’m excited to announce that we’ve rolled out a beta for accepting partial payments with Square Invoices!

This new feature will allow you to create a single invoice and track multiple payments on that invoice. This may also be useful for those of you who want to accept a deposit and collect the rest of the amount due later.

We know this is a feature many of you have been waiting for, so I hope you’ll help us test it out!

By using partial payments and providing us feedback, you will directly influence and improve the Square Invoices product. So please share your reactions and input.

I DONT want to be part of the BETA testing, but I did have a question about how this will work. I can see that you put in a request for a payment to the client as part of the invoicing. 

What happens if the invoice already exists and we have clients paying by Check or other non-online means? How would that work if they sent us a check and we want to apply a partial payment to that invoice? 

My scenario is this:

I have a $100 invoice.

Client sends a check for $46. 

I need to record this as a partial payment.

How would I go about allowing the partial payment?

We definitely need this option. With our business we normally take partial payment upfront and the final once job is completed
