Selling digital files that are automatically emailed to purchaser.

I would like to see a feature on square.

I would like to sell downloadable digital files, where an automated email goes out with the file link right after check out.  I would be able to have one more way to have sales in my business.  I am a hypnotist and don't have a way to sell digital files through my website.  I don’t know how to sell digital files through square.

I agree completly. I wish I would have known this before signing a 3 year contract and finishing the website.

This is possibly the most ridiculous shortcoming of square as a company. Weebly was able to handle this type of digital good distribution with absolutely no problems. I canceled my weebly account when square aquired them.
I find it absurd that this functionality is not available in the square digital good listings. Ive even purchased the highest tier website package hoping it would unlock some feature that wasnt well advertised. Nothing.

How do you aquire a platform and then remove its functionality. As a publisher this is absurd. I guess there is a reason squares stock prices continue to fall despite all its recent aquisitions.

Any help would be appreciated but at this point I am just frustrated and am currently shopping around for an alternative if this isnt remedied soon. We've heard empty promises for over a year.

Any update on this feature yet? I’m thinking of switching and I’ll have to start totally over! Why is this not added yet? Also, is there a way to make a subscription billing for a membership on here? These both should be added ASAP.

As a vendor who sells digital products (photographs) online, I can see how many different pieces have to fit together for this feature to work.  It would be nice to have, but I also understand why it isn't being done. 

They would have to answer a lot of questions: Where would the files be stored?  How are they delivered (direct download, email, other?) and how much bandwidth and storage would vendors be allowed to use?  How much would it cost Square, and how much would they charge you, to host files for distribution?  How would you show the product in the store, but also protect it from being easily stolen?  How would the cart need to change price structure and/or delivery method for the many types of digital products being offered by vendors?  What about NFTs?  Can digital products include contracts that are signed and returned?  How diverse are the usage cases that would use this?

Remember - Square is aware of this but they haven't promised to implement this feature any time soon.  I've integrated with another vendor that provides the shopping and delivery experience, while Square provides just the payment part.  Maybe that isn't as seamless as Square providing everything but for now it's a lot better than just waiting and complaining about it.

Square Support team: you can't really call a product type "digital" if the download doesn't happen automatically after the purchase. This feature request post from "meljen" is over a year old and it still hasn't been implemented. Is there an estimated time from the development team about when customers can automatically download a digital product they purchase? Emailing as an attachment is inconvenient and a terrible user experience.  Thanks.

I have been using Square for years and I truly love how simple and easy it is to send invoices, complete transactions and add new buyers.

As a full time programmer and developer in applications for POS and web, I use Square to process all my transactions with the exception of my digital audio production services. I create & sell songs, digital sample packs and audio tracks to customers for commercial use in videos and advertising.

I have to use an alternative service to sell my music and once a transaction is complete, the customer can simply download the song or tracks.

This would be for artists and musicians who "create their own music", not re-distributed copyrighted material or songs produced by other artists.

Having a preview track or song option allowing the user to upload each track and then assigning the price to the track and then complete the transaction where the customer selects the download. Adding the option to embed the code for each song or track directly to a Wordpress, Joomla or any html site would be very bennificial.

As a producer and artist I truly think Square is missing out on this. It would make sense for those of us that must use an alternative payment processors or gateway.

I think it would truly boost sales and also promote Square. Any ideas and input would be welcome.
