Remove Default Categories from Library

Having a set of default, unremovable categories that takes up more than 3/4 of the Library screen is untenable.  I'd wager the majority of Square users don't use Gift Cards or Rewards; a few probably use discounts and service charges.

We should have the ability to edit/remove/hide categories on the library screen.  As a Square user for both my personal business and as head (read: only) IT guy for a local nonprofit, being able to remove the useless-to-us categories would save me SO MUCH PAIN from volunteers getting "lost" because they hit the wrong category. 

(Yes, I created a for-dummies document that a lobotomized kindergartner could follow.  No, it didn't help.  Anyone who's worked with people will understand...there's always that one person who couldn't find their a** with both hands and a map, who throws up their hands, turns off their brain, and wails for help the second they get slightly confused.  Usually while you're elbow deep in something else, but their problem is the most important thing in the world!)

I know they added more unwanted items on the main screen, but Square thinks by adding the one grid to our phone has helped. We are at farmers markets, craft shows and concessions where speed is key. We have our iPad set up grid style that helps. When I have a line and have to use my phone one grid are area doesn’t help. Make the option happen to turn off unnecessary items. We are a community asking of Square to please offer this as a way to speed up our transactions. For the love of pete sakes hear our words! We need a toggle to turn off those unwanted items! TOGGLE SWITCH TURN OFF ITEMS UNNEEDED!

Now the “new” home screen has 5 lines of unneeded space hogs instead of 2 lines of useless functions.  On my phone (which is the ONLY way I use square) I can only see two of my items, but I have two scroll up to see my menu.  I work farmers markets where transaction speed in incredibly important, every step slows down sales.  It is hard to fathom that SQUARE could make the issue worse than it was.

The Redeem Rewards selection cannot be removed completely, however using your "Items Grid" you can customize what appears as available to select.

I'm hopping on this bandwagon.  Just set up my square terminal and super disappointed that these 2 USELESS items appear first!  Also annoying is the fact that I can't list my items in a specific order.  Did it ever occur to anyone at Square that maybe alphabetical is not the most useful way to list items??  I was a computer programmer for 25 years.  These fixes should be a slam dunk!  As others have stated, a student intern could fix them easily!!!

Apparently slamdunks don’t work with this group. I actually offered to have my son do the coding for them as he’s a current computer science major and code Enthusiast. We’re just wait you’re going to get all kinds of excuses and never an actual realistic answer about fixing the problem because apparently it’s not a problem to them. I guess it’s because it eats into their profits? Maybe I’m wrong but it sucks and it’s in the way of my specific register needs.

It's now a YEAR since I posted that. And *still* nothing! But you did waste time coding some rubbish about giving me a badge for 15 Likes! I've been a computer programmer since the 1970s... take some advice - stop wasting time on that rubbish and listen to your customers. It should take a newbie coder five minutes to implement not five years.

Been asking Square to get rid of those for years.  Yes, it is frustrating that an “option” that we don’t want and don’t use is mandatory.  Please get rid of the mandatory options for Gift Cards and Rewards!

I would also like the annoying gift card and redeem awards removed or the option to hide them . I used PayPal here but in Australia it is being removed so I have brought a square terminal . All in all I like it but the gift card and reward is annoying. If I find something better it may well make me change to that . Listen to your customers and do something about it please. 

How hard can it be to just have a hide Rewards and Gift Cards - this just adds confusion to sellers, and customers who see this ask ridiculous questions..  I am literally trialling this app at the moment but won’t go any further until I see some movement or genuine response. 

Completely agree with the above sentiment.  Looks like I made a mistake with Square and will look for a service provider who provides the service I want!
