I have read the terms of storing customers information and follow it to the letter. When it comes to recurring payments or subscriptions, I know Square "says" to contact a customer each time we make a monthly transaction, would it be nessassary to do so if I am doing this:
Have a signed contract with a customer that specifically states that on <such> day, we have it on authority from the signed client to process a payment for $XX per month on this day <day> for the above <services>.
Of course the customer would also have a copy of the contract. I am wondering if this would be acceptable with Square. I do have a contract written up that I use with PayPal which is set for recurring but I would like to move away from PayPal all together and utilize Square solely. This contract has been deemed legally binding from 2 different lawyers and a city judge.
It does state that they can cancel at anytime PRIOR to the next bill date. I have not had any issue in the 2 years I have been doing this - PayPal of course. I did create in the Customers section groups. Residential, Business and Subscriptions, customers who would be recurring would be placed in Subscriptions so I know what to look for each month (day). I would use the birthdate as the day they sign up and of when payment is due every month. Sounds like a good idea?
I know Square is working on recurring and subscriptions, but I do not know how long they have been working on it and there is no date on when their statement was written.
If they way I want to do subscriptions is acceptable by Square, I hope they will back me as the seller considering I can produce an original signed customer copy as proof in case anything gets contested by a client - if contested.
