Re: Need to import/export item images within the Item Library - Status changed to: Not currently planned

Hey there, @dpowell7299 & @JTPets

I have merged the older posts to your Feature Request, so our Product Team can see how long our sellers have been requesting this particular feature.

Currently, this isn't on the roadmap to get implemented. Doesn't mean it cannot get on there in the future.

When we get more information, we can circle back to update the status.

Thank you!

It's been 2 years, has this been fixed. I have almost 2000 items in my catalog.

We have been entering these FREAKING feature requests for at least 2 years now and not a peep from you guys as to even IF you would do it.

I definitely get how you feel @IndyRick. For context, most of the features that exist in Square were made possible thanks to feedback from Sellers like you.

It was never Square's intention to make you feel like your data is kept away from you. However, submitting a feature request puts this need front and center of our Product Team.

Thank you for your understanding and I hope you have a great day.

Sorry, I can't wait on your development timing. I am developing (PHP &MySQL) my own display application that will make use of what data you do deign to provide right now. A business case shouldn't be required for data access. FREE MY DATA.

Thank you for taking the time to share your interest in this feature @alhstudio2021 At this time, exporting pictures isn't something that our team has planned. However, I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers with similar interest in your request.

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature would help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

How to import/export item images within the Item Library?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: How to export items images together with the library to excel?]

I am trying to export my items library to my laptop excel. For some reasons the items images are not exported. Can anyone please tell me how do I do so? Thank you.

I had to go with a combination of WooCommerce (with Square integration) on my own website to make image import work.  Here's the things you would have to use:

WordPress website

WooCommerce Plugin

Product Import/Export Plugin for WooCommerce

WooCommerce Square Integration Plugin

That might sound like a lot, but it's all relatively simple to install.  Saves a ton of time when you have a large amount of products with unique product images like books.

It appears this has been a support request on this thread dating back to at least 2017... Has this past the feature request stage yet? I have been an online seller for over 10 years and just signed up with Square to see if this is going to be a good solution to add an in-store POS aspect to our online business. I have to say that the limitation of not being able to import products with images is a HUGE issue for anyone with a large catalog. I was just importing over 5,000 products when I realized that there was no option to do so. Unfortunately if I am not able to find a solution to this I will have to take my business elsewhere.

As an added note in case it helps your development team complete this, the most common and easiest way I have seen this done, is simply by having a column for the image URL. On import they would simply download the image from the location provided, process it however they like, and attach it to the item. Yes, the retailer would need to have all of our images already uploaded to an external CDN or server, but anyone with a large enough catalog to care about this will already have it or will go through the extra step to accomplish this.

Thank you for your support. I hope to see a positive response soon.

Is there an update on this feature?  I have a file I can upload with new inventory it would be helpful to upload/import the images also. This is a necessity for businesses these days I'm really shocked Square has not made this a feature for online stores.

good evening,

Hey @Juergen1973,

We don't have the option to import images yet, but will share an update with you here as soon as we do!

Thx for the answer

When I scan an item what kind of field is used? the sku field or upc field?

With my version, I have to enter the upc number in the sku field - this is the only way to recognize the article when scanning - can I set it differently?
thx
