Feature request: Scan items to invoice/estimate

Feature request: Scan items to invoice/estimate

Hi, We have all our stock barcoded which works great in the POS app but we also run a service side where we use Invoices/estimates and are unable to scan items to enter them on the estimate/invoice. Is there any reason why this can't be done, it seems odd that scanning works for POS, purchase orders, item management but not for Invoices/Estimates.

Just to be clear, the scanner works in estimates/invoices but instead of associating the barcode with the product it just creates a one time item and prints the barcode number into the item field.

Hi, thank you for writing in to let us know about how you're using Invoices, it's great to be able to pass this feedback on to our product team! Barcode scanning doesn't work in the same way with invoices as scanning and estimates/invoices are two different products, developed by different teams with different uses in mind. Integrating barcode functionality into invoices would be a feature request, which I'd be happy to pass on.

Hi Boris, thank you for your reply, however this seems like its a bug rather than a feature request. I can type in the barcode number into Estimates/invoices and the product comes up but if I scan the barcode it does not. To say that they are different products developed by different teams is not a great answer to give to your customers. We moved over to Square to have everything on the one platform fully integrated, which is what your marketing advertises your platform to be. What we are experiencing is 4 different products which kind of work together but not really. To have an invoice system that integrates everything from the square POS inventory system but leaves out something as simple, but vitally important as the ability to scan barcodes seems like a huge oversight.

I would also like to be able to scan items to add them to an invoice. It is very time consuming to have to manually select them all. It takes more people and alot of time. This is a feature that Quickbooks has, and many of my vendors are doing it. I don’t understand why square hasn’t done this yet.
