Feature Request: Use Square Appointments on the Square Terminal

Feature Request: Use Square Appointments on the Square Terminal

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Square terminal with square appointments

I just ordered a square terminal and now I’m rethinking it after some reading... I want to check out my clients and be able to keep track of sales and clients payment history but now I see I can’t use square appointments on the square terminal. I see you can open a ticket to sync but how do i add my client to that ticket that is on my schedule to check out?

Re: How can I view "Calendar" on square terminal?

Hi @MISSY1-

I moved your post to our Square Appointments Feature Request board.

Right now, this isn't available for the Terminal. There isn't a timeline currently, for its implementation. Keep an eye out for an announcement for this feature update!

Re: Feature Request: Checkout Appointments using Square Terminal

Thank you for your post @jjkingham. I'm moving it to the Feature Request board so we can keep you updated!

In the meantime, as a workaround, open tickets do sync between the Appointments app and Square Terminal. This means you could create a ticket from the Appointments app, open the same ticket on Square Terminal and tap Charge to complete the payment.

Agree, I had the same problem! Auto detailer here & I ordered a number of terminals thinking it would be a great solution for a touchless COVID pandemic solution but it doesn't work with appointments! Mind boggling since Square is all one platform. At the very least I wish there would be some type of communication from Square on what features/capabilities are being worked on in their pipeline & roadmap. I've also worked in tech for the last 10+ years & its common practice to have this available to paying customers & developers.

Appointments for square register

Are you confusing the square register with the handheld square terminal?

As far as ive been able to find, there's no open beta for square appointments on the handheld terminal.

No it’s the square register not a handheld device

Thanks for clarifying @Annagonzalez11

Square Appointments has been officially available on the Square Register since December 2020. I can confirm that we are not currently Beta-testing Square Appointments on the Square Terminal @HabitatEcoSalon @AutumnVHL @SNKSG.

Hi! How can I mark a client as “paid” in the online booking calendar when I’ve processed their payment through the handheld terminal? When I go to mark it paid, it wants me to process the payment over again. Seems strange when both the terminal and calendar are part of my account but they don’t seem to talk to each other.

Perhaps I am missing a setting somewhere?

I believe I have the calendar set to allow prepayment of sessions, if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the Square Terminal doesn't support the Appointments software at this time. You'll need to use a phone, an iPad or Android Tablet to checkout an appointment.

@Silverthreads

Hi there. @Hairbyrachel   As long as you keep on top of who’s paid and who hasn’t, I really love my terminal with Square. I’ve used 3 other POS services over the years and so far I find this one is the best. If they could, like in Jane Online Booking, just add a thing that lets you mark appointments as ‘paid’ we’d be off and running. The calendar works well, my clients like it. (I’m a lone therapist working from home).

It would be convenient to be able to get into the calendar from the terminal, but aside from that it works very well. Plus printing or emailing the receipts is nice.

With Square Terminal I can make any changes and adjustments to my fees without logging onto computer or tablet, set up new promos or discounts, add and edit customers... pretty much anything you can do on the app right from the terminal. Almost.....

I hope you find whatever suits your needs best!

Okay thanks for answering. But that kind of defeats the purpose of using the nifty terminal, no? 🤔 I have the stand too, so I’d be back to that. The terminal is much nicer. I hear you’re working on it. Thanks!
