Feature Request: Square Gift Card and eGift Card redemption via a third-party website

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Can Square gift cards be used in my Wix site?

We use Wix to host our small business website and just upgraded to their online store functionality becuase it gave us the ability to customize and look like a cohesive party of our website.

We are still using Square to process our payments. We were wondering if Square gift cards and discount codes can still be redeemed on our website?

We've been really happy with our service with Square but really need more customization for selling our classes. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

I have had this problem also. It would be so good and convenient if this was easily integrated to the checkout process.

I currently offer the gift cards however to redeem them they have to place their order via telephone so that i can take the gift card number using the Square App.

This also allows me to talk to my customer 1-2-1 and build a good trustworthy relationship.

But for ease this need to be sorted its so important to have this and something that should be in place anyway.

Other than that i love the Square service excellent.

I can indeed hyperlink any word or picture in my WIX store and when clicked the buyer is taken to my Square eCard page.  However, I gather that the eCard can only be redeemed in a Square/Weebly online store and not in my WIX Store? Can this be addressed?  I have way too much time spent and am way too happy with my WIX Store to change to a Square Weebly online store just to have this feature. Thanks for any input!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and detailed feedback @richy_bait_hook!

This is helpful when we're passing requests to the Product Team for future improvements.

I'll be sure to resurface this thread with them and hopefully this is something we can implement in the future.

Also glad to hear you're loving Square. 🙂

Hey @EagleDoc.

Thanks for posting in our Seller Community.

As of right now, Wix does not accept Square Gift or eGift Cards as a form of payment. We are working with our partnerships currently in the hopes that in the future they will recognize our Gift Cards as an accepted payment form. Until then, eGift Cards will only be accepted on Square Online Stores or via the POS system.

When we have an update on this feature, we'll post on our Seller Community. Really sorry about this, and thank you for your patience.

Connect my website in wix to e-gift card or gift to redeem.

Hello @MyAAthread! I moved your question to this relevant thread for an answer to your question.

Square's supposed fully integrated physical store v. ecom gift cards is largely why we opted to switch to using square as our primary payment processor. I even spoke in length on the topic with a square rep via phone. Looks like they were misinformed or misunderstood. I'd like to enthusiastically request that square works on a plug in for platforms other than weebly. I too use Woocom, and would love to see this feature actually filled out.

Just came across this thread - I own a tech company that's an official Square Partner - we specialize in creating Square-powered Mobile Apps and sophisticated solutions via Square's API. I'm almost positive I saw a few functions in Square's API for E-GiftCards - if I'm right, then we could fairly easily create a WooCommerce Plugin that allows you to take Square E-Giftcards on your WooCommerce Checkout.

We are extremely advanced and experienced in WooCommerce and recently created a super sophisticated custom Gateway (ie. Payment Option) for it - like 2 months ago. And, we're even more advanced and experienced at Square's API, so we already have all the code (and know how) to authorize your Square Account (via API) so that whatever APIs we use (for the E-Giftcards) communicate directly back to (and from) your Square Account.

If enough people show interest by replying to this post, we'll just make it and sell it to the group as a:

1) A WooCommerce Plugin or

2) A functions.php include (code block), which is a very known way of adding functionality to WooCommerce within your theme's functions.php file.

Or both. Sometimes you want flexibility.

We could probably research and make this over the course of 3 days. Our Square Store is actually a WooCommerce powered store too, so we'd make it, install it on our own store, then let everybody test it there.

ps - just checked and yep, they have tons of API support for Gift Cards...so this would be no problem.

I'm wondering the same. Did you get a solution?

Hi @blancosimmons I'm reaching out here for @VanKalkerFarms. Our eGift Card features remain the same despite our move to Weebly. You will need to post a link to your eGift Card webpage through your Wix account to be able to sell them and they will not work on the Wix website for checkout at this time.

Thanks for asking!
