Feature Request: Item Import/Export for Online Store items

Currently we're in the process of switching to Square for our online store. We carry thousands of products, and right now I'm having to go through each item individually to add data and make sure they are correct, as some things do not sync between POS and Online (taxes, extra images, sale prices, etc). I'm also having to add the description to each product individually, as we need RTF in the descriptions, so can't just sync them from our POS items. It's frustrating that I can't just import this information from my existing online provider, where all of this is already set up. It's going to take me weeks or months to copy all the data over. (The bulk edit button is useful for a small number of these tasks, but with the sheer size of our item library, it's still very challenging to use until everything is properly categorised.)

 

On top of that, I can't see any possible way to export this information from Square Online either - if something goes wrong with my library, or if I at some point need to switch to a different provider again in future, I have no way of backing up all this data I'm entering. The very thought of starting over and doing this all by hand again in future is... let's say not good.

 

Please can an import/export items function be added to Square Online?

I can definitely see how having the import and export capabilities within the Square Online site will make things easier, especially when you need the information to be in a certain format. I will definitely share this feature request with our Product team for consideration and hopefully I'll be able to share some positive updates here soon.

No updates just yet @JayAshton, thanks for checking in. 

 

The import/export tool is still limited to the Point of Sale item library (which will automatically sync to Square Online). 

 

We'll be sure to follow up here with any updates.

Unfortunately the import / export in POS isn’t a suitable workaround because the elements I need to update don’t sync across between POS and online.

 

To sync the categories would fix that also. I don’t use categories in POS (just a barcode scanner or search option) but I do online for ease of navigation at the user end.

This would be super helpful - in the same boat where we want formatted product descriptions, so have to "create" all my items in Square Online - and then manually copy over the descriptions - the other way round I have to faff to much to get the description displayed nicely on the website! If the SYNC worked both ways it would be better.
