Feature Request: Create customer marketing opt-in checkbox

Hi,

 

I really like the email marketing tools from Square.

 

However I was creating a customer yesterday in person I found out that it automatically assigns them to non-subscribed even though I asked the customer in-person if they would like to receive marketing emails.

 

A checkbox in the create customer to opt-in to subscribe to email marketing tools would be handy.

 

A long way around I found that worked is by going on my website and added there email to mailing list witch created a second account, then merged the accounts in the customer directory.

This is something we've been hearing a lot and we have been flagging it to our product team. 

It's something we'll be able to give you an update on in 2023. 

 

We know it's a clunky experience and not super intuitive so thank you for bearing with us while we work on improving the current flow.

Clunky is certainly a good description 👍.  Just on the point of going in to the customer profile to tweak. We are currently using the sign up link which allows the customer to input an email address and mobile number at POS and on the website however it does not allow a name input on the link, which is kind of fine, not ideal but OK, but should you need to go to that customers profile and modify adpects of the account say add or remove points or add them to specific groups, you can't save the profile with the required changes unless there is a name added to the profile, which we cant collect (Eg  when a customer signs up to email and mobile so we can offer newsletters and loyalty points, we also add them manually to a group which automatically applies a discount on takeaway drinks. Sadly we have to add them to this group manually, however without a the name and surname fields populated we can't save the profile with the additional group. So we have to create a new profile and add the email and mobile plus the discount group, basically resubscribe them. It's painful trust me!)
