Feature Request: Change locations without logging out

Feature Request: Change locations without logging out

The title of this post has been edited from the original: How to change locations on iPad?

I use the same iPad for different "locations".   The only way I can see to change locations is to log off and then log back in and choose the location I want. Is there a way to change locations while logged in?

@Bradsfood

We're happy to announce a new account feature: Mobile Location Switching! 🙌

I am in Canada and would really like that feature too!

Being able to switch locations on my phone without having to log off  would be a huge time save. I have 2 locations I switch between often - one for my online store (meat sold by the package) and our in person farm store (meat sold by weight). Having all our inventory at one location causes our product list to be too long with everything entered twice for the different units we sell by. I’ll be ringing someone out in person one minute and then get an email an online order came in and have to log out and back in again to fulfill. Hopefully this helps explain why changing locations on the fly would be incredibly useful! Thank you!!

I agree this s Very Very time consuming ....especially with a customer waiting for you to switch and log back in so you can check them out...my fellow staff will not be liking this

Hello,

I recently started using Square POS for my food banks. There's a few devices (mostly cell phones) that go to multiple locations and not being able to toggle back and forth is challenging. Do you know when this will get corrected?

Thank you!

Hello and welcome @kbinnington17 - this is considered a feature request, which means that the app isn't built to toggle between locations at this time. Your Square Point of Sale app is currently working as intended, and we will be sure to update this thread if we introduce the ability to move from location to location in-app while logged into the related Square account.

Wow. It is absolute crap that it took 5 YEARS for Square to even acknowledge this. And now they are saying it's a feature request? NO DUH... and 5 years after a simple request was made it is still not in the pipeline, no eta?

This is a bad company, that obviously needs new Product Owners and Project Managers.

Someone needs to review this thread, and should've done so years ago. This is a BIG FAILURE on their part.

They don't care about customers.

You're wasting you're breath. They don't care about you or your business. This is a simple feature request made in 2016, that would improve the businesses,  but as long as we keep paying them millions in fees every year they will just ignore us.

If we start a reddit to cancel Square, I bet they would get this simple request out in a single sprint.

If it doesn’t make then money they don’t care. They never care about what will make the user experience better. They have changed the way to log in and out and made it more difficult. I keep getting approached by different companies to use their POS system. I think that I am going to try one out at one of my locations. At least I could be logged into both at the same time.

My business has multiple users that use the same card terminal. I was told that I could create separate locations so that we would not be required to log out/log in with a complicated 12 digit code or typing in email/pw each time we switch users (multiple times daily) but it appears that I still need to use the 12 digit passcode when switching locations? Is there not an easier way to just select a location and possibly a 4/5 digit passcode? This has been very difficult for us to use- some of the business members are not tech savvy and we are all struggling with this.

Sounds like you're using a device code when signing in. Team Management requires 4 digit passcodes.

The downside of multiple locations is signing out and back in to switch locations which can get a bit cumbersome.

I recommend just using one location with Team Management enabled on the Terminal.
