Feature Request: A report that displays the ZIP codes associated with payments

Feature Request: A report that displays the ZIP codes associated with payments

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Having a sales report that shows location of transactions

Is it possible in the sales reports to breakdown the sales by location (preferably zip code) if all transactions are done on the same account?

Most of our transactions take place at our one store, but sometimes we have transactions done on mobile devices that take place in other cities at farmers markets that we do. In order to calculate sales taxes, which vary by city and county, I would like to be able to see how much of the total monthly sales were done in which locations.

I'll back you up there George. I'm a taxi driver. I love the POS app and card reader for what I do and the reporting is allowing me to have a level of intelligence to my day that no other drivers have access to. the ONE thing that is missing for me is the ability to see the locations of my fares for the day. That would make this the ultimate POS system!

At this point, it's just downright silly this isn't implemented.

Square either doesn't have the resources, or doesn't care.

Everything you do these days has GPS attached to it. To not have access to this is just nonsense.

But there are plenty of other lacking features in the Square app that are even more frustrating and troubling due to their absence. And it's not like we see much in the way of feature upgrades to the app otherwise.

cant recall an app update where I thought, "excellent, been waiting for that to be added".

That said, Square is the lesser of all evils in this field, I will give them that.

Thank you for your posts @Wayneo @georgec!

You're right, if take payments at a single location there isn't a way to filter your reports by where the payment was accepted; if you take payments at separate Square locations you can display your Sales Summary by location.

I agree that would be very useful to be able to see where you you accepted payments and we'll continue to share updates on this request here. If there are any other features you'd like to see don't hesitate to start a new thread to let us know!

The problem with "Square Locations" is that they are limited in number, have to be set up ahead of time, and can't be deleted. At least the last time I checked when it was offered up as a solution.

Many events I work are one-time, or change cities/venues. For @Wayneo this is true 100% of the time most likely.

"Square Locations" are fine for sellers with multiple actual, fixed, physical locations. But for mobile sellers (which I thought was the entire point of the Square POS concept), locations are often temporary.

All we need is the GPS coordinates where the sale took place. Not sure how this can be such a monumental hurdle to overcome. I know it's being captured by the app. You guys try to offer up sales tax rates based on location.

Just add it as another column to the CSV. Such an easy fix. Square spends more time defending the lack of inclusion of this data point than it would take to implement it.

I have a small jam business.  I do 6-10 markets on Saturday and Sunday.  How can I track sales by device / farmers market?  I need to know who sold what each week.

Hello @brownb! Thanks for jumping into the Seller Community with us!

I went ahead and merged your question over to this relevant thread that addresses your question of how to track your sales by device/farmers market.

Take a look and feel free to ask any other questions you might have!

Is there any way to access customer zip codes from Square terminal without having to fill out customer data? I own a tasting room that gets a lot of tourist traffic but where transactions are handled like a restaurant (so customers don't complete customer data). I want zip code information to identify where my customers are coming from so I can create offers targeted to both out of town customers and to locals. This is the only major problem I have with Square but without it I may have to switch POS systems.

You'll need to collect each customer's mailing address using Customer Management so it's captured in your Directory. There isn't a feature that just collects zip codes.

@LWood

Aren't zip codes are collected with the credit card info? Customers don't want to complete a form when closing out a tab so if it's already being collected it would be nice to get that info from Square. Is there a way to ask it as a custom field at check out as a part of the tip screen or somewhere in that process?

Thanks,

Is there any way to get this after the fact? A sort of "click here to fill out your info" button in Marketing?
