Block Clients

Block Clients

We really need the ability to block certain clients from scheduling.  No just declining them. There are those finding ways around the decline by utilizing another email address etc. Thank you

Re: Block Clients

This forum doesn't seem to work getting this feature to the proper channels. It for the customer to feel like they are getting some where but they are not. Maybe start to go to twitter and call them out because at this point Square has shown that they are NOT for solo practitioners and their safety! It has been YEARS of this now. YEARS!!! 35 pages of this request up to this point.  Look into GlossGenius for booking if you are a esthetician or massage therapist.

Re: Block Clients

Agreed! This has been one of the features missing. I used to use an online booking system that allowed you to toggle or “turn off” booking ability for that client specifically. I typically don’t have an issue with clients booking online but when they are not a fit with my business anymore and can’t respect my time, it’s necessary. This is a feature that is needed, regardless of no show protection being in place.

Re: Block Clients - Status changed to: Has Product Insight

Hi all 👋 Apologies for the delayed response here but I have returned with some insight from the Square Appointments Product Team! I'll share what they've told me below:

"We don’t have a specific feature for this yet but it’s on our roadmap this year. H
owever, many of our Appointments Sellers are already enrolled in Risk Manager, and can use the Risk Manager’s “Block payment cards” feature to block buyers from booking if the Seller has prepayment or no-show turned on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good way to block clients from booking if the Seller doesn’t use prepayment or no-show, but this is on our radar for this year."

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hi @mikethebarber

Nothing new to report on this at the moment, but it seems to be gaining more interest lately so hopefully we can figure out a way to help with situations like this.

One workaround that you can use would be to switch the Reservation Guarantee in your Appointments Settings to "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests".

This allows you to have more control over who actually books up time slots on your calendar.

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hey there @UrbanShaveSD

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I can totally see where this feature would be useful for difficult clients and I'll share your feedback with the Appointments team. I've moved this to the Feature Request board where we can track this request.

I have a few clients that always no show, which is annoying because I am always completely booked!  Please figure out how to block certain clientele from booking an appointment online.  I do not want to request payment prior to scheduling because the majority of my clients are not inconsiderate.

square really does not care about the wants and needs of their clients too much unless they make or lose money. I would suggest you turn on approve apts in the settings.. that way you have to approve or decline every appointment. when those specific clients book you just device their apts each time they make them. I choose not to use square apts instead I use acuity.

Square there are literally HUNDREDS of your customers asking for this feature over the last 4 years and you still haven’t given us the option?

I agreee!!

That doesn’t work sometimes because they’ll end up changing their card or moving funds elsewhere causing a card that declines.

I strongly agree that there has to be a block option

I’m a salon owner and we’ve had a few clients that have been verbally abusive to my staff. Square really needs to add this simple feature to block them from making any future appointments.

A block feature needs to be added immediately! As a business owner, I need to treat each client differently based on their needs. All clients booking online should not have to wait for my approval because of one bad apple that is continuously cancelling at the last moment or not showing up at all. In addition, this is costing my business quite a bit of money. Yes, I turned on the "card on file" feature, but being able to customize our client's profiles and removing their booking abilities is becoming imperative. I have loved Square for the past several years, but am seriously considering other platforms that support my needs.

I have had trouble charging my cancellation fee because people book with cards that don’t have any money on them… is there a way to push the payment through even if the money isn’t on the card?

Hi and welcome to the Seller Community @kutzbykee 👋

Square is unable to charge cards or accounts that do not have a balance and this is a Card Processing limitation.

@Chad The Credit Card protection is great, however only is good for clients that have cancelled last minute. What worries me more is clients that we haven't felt safe with that we do not want to return to the salon, or clients that try to scam you by coming in and saying that hate their hair/nails/etc. and want a full refund, even though they loved it when they left.

It becomes too much of a pain to have to approve appointments especially when you get appointments in large quanities at once, plus the person that booked can see that you denied their appointment and will just continue to try and re-book or call to see why you are denying their appointment, making it awkward to explain, if you accidentally answered their call.

I would prefer to be able to block names, emails, numbers, and Credit cards connected to the individual's profile and be able to  attach multiple emails/numbers to that profile as blocked and if they try to book online it will simply say something like "We are so sorry ___ is fully booked" and not give them any options.
