Block Clients

Block Clients

We really need the ability to block certain clients from scheduling.  No just declining them. There are those finding ways around the decline by utilizing another email address etc. Thank you

Re: Block Clients

This forum doesn't seem to work getting this feature to the proper channels. It for the customer to feel like they are getting some where but they are not. Maybe start to go to twitter and call them out because at this point Square has shown that they are NOT for solo practitioners and their safety! It has been YEARS of this now. YEARS!!! 35 pages of this request up to this point.  Look into GlossGenius for booking if you are a esthetician or massage therapist.

Re: Block Clients

Agreed! This has been one of the features missing. I used to use an online booking system that allowed you to toggle or “turn off” booking ability for that client specifically. I typically don’t have an issue with clients booking online but when they are not a fit with my business anymore and can’t respect my time, it’s necessary. This is a feature that is needed, regardless of no show protection being in place.

Re: Block Clients - Status changed to: Has Product Insight

Hi all 👋 Apologies for the delayed response here but I have returned with some insight from the Square Appointments Product Team! I'll share what they've told me below:

"We don’t have a specific feature for this yet but it’s on our roadmap this year. H
owever, many of our Appointments Sellers are already enrolled in Risk Manager, and can use the Risk Manager’s “Block payment cards” feature to block buyers from booking if the Seller has prepayment or no-show turned on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good way to block clients from booking if the Seller doesn’t use prepayment or no-show, but this is on our radar for this year."

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hi @mikethebarber

Nothing new to report on this at the moment, but it seems to be gaining more interest lately so hopefully we can figure out a way to help with situations like this.

One workaround that you can use would be to switch the Reservation Guarantee in your Appointments Settings to "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests".

This allows you to have more control over who actually books up time slots on your calendar.

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hey there @UrbanShaveSD

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I can totally see where this feature would be useful for difficult clients and I'll share your feedback with the Appointments team. I've moved this to the Feature Request board where we can track this request.

@Nailphomaniac That is not something we support as we want to empower customers to have control over their credit cards. I do see how this would really benefit and protect some businesses, though, and can certainly pass the feedback forward.

they are OUR customers... not yours... your making your decision of what you think is best for our customers... I am going to consider dropping square all together if this is going to be the attitude you want to take. every other booking software on the market keeps cards on file.. there are very few who do not allow it and those that do not have very few business using their system. I will not be going forward with using your appointment system simply because you won't allow us to hold cards online.. clients who don't show up or cancel last min again our cancelation policy cost my business money and you are supporting the loss of my money. second if clients don't want to keep their cards on file they can find another business to book with and I am happy to see them leave. I am not I have limited appointments each day that can be booked with me and not showing up or canceling last min greatly damages my business.. clients can have control over their cards by choosing not too book with me because they have to keep a cards on file or they can choose to book with me to keep a card on file... my regular clients don't care to keep cards on file and like that its kept on file so they don't have to enter it over and over again each time they make and apt... not keeping a card on file an entering it all the time will results in people move on to another business out of annoyance..I am deeply disappointment that people who pay for your service on here are not listen to or told you don't agree....I am going to find another company to process my cards now and do all my other task.. I will also will no longer be going to back to you for payroll. I appreciate you telling us about what you think is best for our clients and customers..... I really appreciate you feeling like all of us wanting a feature are not important and that you know better from our point of view.. in face this is pointless you don't care and you won't even read this I am wasting my time.

Simple request is to protect your actual customers, us the ones that have businesses through your application.
I’ve had people book with No - Show protection but they’ve have had a option to not save the card on file. Please listen to us your actual customers. We already have % of our income going to your application. We just want more secure booking and access to keeping ourselves safe with managing who can or cannot book with us.

Square needs to add that blocking feature

It don’t matter it’s a trash booking app… if client book with a card on file.. after they book they can log in and delete their card on file and then you can’t charge them for  no call no show or for canceling.. it makes out a card on file pointless.. all they do is sign in and go to profile and click on delete their card..

It is the year 2021 and this basic feature STILL hasn't been added yet?!  I have been a long time square user but this is getting ridiculous when it is readily available on every other appointment booking platform. As someone in my profession (beauty industry), this needs to be a SAFTY issue. I already know about the no-show protection and the ability to approve and deny appointments. That isn't enough.

I see that there hasn’t been an update on this. Can we please know why this blocking feature isn’t offered?
It is a needed feature for our safety. There are unsafe and aggressive clients as well as those who continually ignore polices and no-show.
I saw in another thread that this feature will not be added , but it would be great if we could get an explanation why when so many seem to want/need a blocking feature for safety reasons.

Also, it is not reasonable to have to approve or deny every appointment  as a workaround, because that would add so much time to an already super busy workday.

Look like since square wants to make decision for me on what best for my own business and ignore our wishes we move away from square to any other company that will listen and respect the needs of those who make them money by using their system.

Blocking clients is a safety feature, if square want to tell me what my business needs then they don’t need my money.. I worked hard to own my own business and the last thing I will ever put up with is someone telling me what I need or what they think is best for me… apparently if you don’t want to add this feature you don’t want my business… once my square loan is paid I’d this feature is not added I will find a new processor… your not the only fish in the pond square and your arrogance won’t be Tolerated by me

Hey Square,

I pay you $85 a month plus the percentage you take of my sales. Us (your customers) have been asking you since 2017 to provide us with a feature to block unwanted clients. It's a matter of SAFETY for us. It blows my mind that as a company you seem perfectly fine with allowing your customers to be put in dangerous and harassing situations. I've left other booking software over issues and am not afraid to take my money elsewhere again. It's clear to me and should be to you as well that adding a blocking feature would be in the best interest of both you and your customers. Our concerns and safety should be a top priority of yours and not something you just continue to sweep under the rug.
