Add Training or Test mode

Need the ability to put the register in training mode, so we can have new employees walk through the whole process without the transactions showing up on the reports. Alternatively, have the ability to delete a transaction if it had a matching refund (i.e. new employee rings up items, chooses cash as payment and then refunds that transaction).

Hey there, @NeighborsPlants. I’ve gone ahead and changed the status of this feature request to “Reviewed”. I agree that this is something that would definitely help a lot of Sellers. At this time our team is still exploring the possibility of creating a Demo or Training mode for the Square for Retail App.

@JJ_ This would be a very useful feature.  This would allow owners and employees to setup discounts and other functions and test prior to going live.  We had a standard account for CC processing only and then upgraded to Retail POS.  I've been very hesitant to get familiar with the systems since I setup a discount and found out that it's not working as expected and had large discounts cutting into margins by mistake.  I'm surprised there is no way to just discount an entire purchase amount by a dollar amount instead of percentage.  Like a $10 Off minimum purchase of $50

I just have to say again, that this week this became a major pain point for me. It significantly slowed me down having to have a new employee use a live register to train on. We saw a decline in our business as a result of the longer lines and waiting customers had to do. 

it would have been nice to be able to use our manger register in training mode to be able to allow new employees to train on the system, learning how to do discounts, split transactions, dealing with skus that don’t pull up and how to search etc. 

yes some of this is things we could have done to a partial point, and we did, but being able to finish the transaction out completely to show what happens next, how to close the drawer, do a paid in or out etc would be helpful. 

we don’t want to have these things on the record that then are noted as training. It would be better if we could Maybe get a fake square training card that when used, one would give an approval and the other a denial, so they can see what happens both ways and know how to respond. 

but we would still need the ability to keep the transaction that aren’t real from being recorded, especially paid in/outs or fake transactions.

This is bonkers to me this is missing.  Toast and other POS systems have this.  It needs to exist for both retail and restaurant POS.  I was just looking for this so we could train people in a "test/training" mode without running real cards.   This is a huge miss.
