this reader worked fine until ios update to 14.6, the latest system for ipad and iphone. Square should own up to it being a software problem they need to fix instead of offering useless options. i called them and after several 'tests' they agreed to send a new reader in exchange for the one not working. i just got the new reader and it will not connect to either iphone or ipad, both are on the compatible list, so that's not the issue. i am not a happy customer, Square. Ready to try something else, frankly.

I have a couple of ideas for you to get your reader back up and running:
-In the iOS bluetooth settings on both your phone and tablet, find any Square readers listed and forget every one of them
-Uninstall and reinstall the app on both devices. Be warned any printer settings you have on the app will be lost
-Do the usual press and hold the reader button until the lights blink red to reset the reader
-Open the app on your primary use device (phone or tablet), sign in, and try reconnecting the reader.
Since you're trying to get the reader to work on a couple of devices at the same time, you may run into a conflict where apple will automatically try to pair the reader to one device when you're trying to make it work on a second. For troubleshooting purposes I recommend only working with one device. Once that device is happy again, then disable bluetooth on the good device and try the same steps (minus the reader reset) on the next device.
You may have already done one of or multiple of these steps; my hope is doing the steps in this order may give you more luck. Since I haven't heard of anyone else having difficulties with reader connectivity, I'm hesitant to call this a software issue just yet. It may be, but more issues will have to be surfaced first.
