printing receipt

Can you tell me why the receipt looks really great on the monitor (with bold text, etc.) but does not have those features when you print it?

I've read through the feeds that you are working on trying to provide customization for the receipts and I am waiting for that as well.

Thanks,

Paige Davis

Hello @DovePointe ! That's a good question!

When you're printing the receipts, are you talking about using a thermal receipt printer or printing to a usual printer via your dashboard? The thermal receipts are pretty locked on bold type and design as needed, but you can tweak a little bit of it on your dashboard at Account & Settings -> Business -> Receipt.

For a regular printer, I'm really surprised if it isn't printing the order exactly as it's seen on your screen. On the odd times where I've had to print, it's been pretty much a mirror of what was on my screen.

What other type of customizations are you needing or would like to see?

Hello @ryanwanner

We have not yet invested in the thermal paper printer - just using our regular desk printers for those clients who want a printed copy.

The receipt when you view it on the screen has the total amount large and bolded. But when you print it, the font is reduced and it's not bold at all. I thought that was odd since the screen view is really nice.

I've tried to change a lot of the features in the account & settings, but nothing I changed fixed the font on the printed receipt. Maybe it's not something that can be modified.

Two more questions... 1) can you enter the customers name when you are entering the transaction on your mobile device? I don't see the option to add any notes. and 2) can you revise or overwrite a standard item amount that was previously set up in the item library (in case items go on sale)?

Thanks for your help!

That is interesting that you're seeing a different print than what is on the screen. It's been so long since I've printed from the desktop that I honestly didn't know/notice a difference! This sounds like a feature request to me! 🙂

For entering your customer's names, there are a few ways to go about it. If you have the Customer Directory, you can just add the customer (using the Add Customer button at the top of the item list "tape") and fill out all the pertinent info. This will link the customer to the order.

As for the overwrite of an item price, unfortunately you can't. What you can do is have a special discount you can apply, or you can leave the price blank on your item. The system will prompt you for the price every time you ring it in.

Hope this helps!
