gift card transaction

It appears in sales transaction history that the initial sale of the gift card is added to my daily totals, then added again when the gift card is swiped.  Now it looks like I have double the money I am supposed to have.

Help!  How do I set this up so that my stats aren't doubled?

In your sales report you have "Gift Card Sales".   This is Gift Cards you have Sold.    You will Also see "Gift Card" under payment type.  This is not a sale it just shows you how your sale was paid for.

This does not double your sales numbers because only "Gift Card Sales" is a sale.

Think of it this way you don't add your cash and credit card sales to your sales total, Nope.

On the financial side you would subtract these two to give you a actual account of gift card Sales $ that are unused.

Hope that helps.

When a customer makes a purchase with a gift card the sale shows as a cash sale.  This means the cash register till is short cash when the cash register is balanced.  A gift card sale should show as a credit sale since the money has already been received.  Is there a way to make a gift card sale not show as a cash transaction?

Hi @Lash1 - I moved your question over to this thread in hopes that @RHatch 's answer helps clarify what you might be seeing. If not, would you mind posting a screen shot of where you're seeing "cash" on your gift card transactions? We'll dig a bit deeper if we need to!
