email subscriptions- opt in / opt out confusing

Hi,

In my Weebly contact list, "all contacts" I have a list of people, some say "not opted in." These people were not customers. I got their emails because they filled out my "web form-subscription." So, if they fill out my subscription form on my website, why would they not be opted in to receive emails? At first I thought it was a two-step verification issue, so I tested it by subscribing with one of my email addresses. I never got sent a verification email and when I go into my Weebly contacts, it lists me as "not opted in." Even though I know I subscribed...

So how can I accurately tell who actually opted in and who didn't?

Great question. We're looking into this with our Weebly team and will be happy to swing back to this when we have an update.

Ok, please let me know what you find out.

A follow up question, how can I tell if a customer who made an online order subscribed to receive emails? I see they are listed as a contact that has not opted in. But, I'd like some reassurance that they in fact did NOT opt in.

Our Weebly team looked into this a bit for you - It sounds like it will depend on which form someone is using. If they use the subscribe field on the bottom of the home page, it won’t opt you in automatically.

If they use the popup lead capture form that loads on the homepage, it does opt them in.

Looking into the opt-in question for you now!

Hi Kelly,

Is there a way to change opting default to opt-in for the web form subscription? Barring that, how can a customer opt-in if they use the web form?  I'm running a special for customers who opt-in, but not all of them will use the pop-up box, yet I still want customers who use the web form to receive the benefit. Also, I would like to automate a welcome email, but when I try to upgrade, I receive a message saying the feature is not available.  Could I get a solution to that, please?

Hi @JehuCampos. Can you try clearing your browser cache and cookies? I checked your account and the upgrade screen for marketing worked for me. You can also try a different browser temporarily if that doesn't work. Regarding your signup form, are you referring to the one on your homepage? It looks like that is a MailChimp form.
