I use Square in my shop for retail sales, services and classes. When I added Square Appointments I had to define services in the Appointment portion. If I checkout a client from the appointment screen the services are uncatorgorized. Is there anyway to add categories to services listed in Appointments?

Square Appointments doesn't have the ability to create categories, but that's definitely something that would be helpful for sellers who offer services and items for sale. 

Can you provide an example of when this feature would come in handy for your business? Would you use this mainly for more streamlined reporting?

Thank you for following up on this. Yes, you can add categories to your Square Online site. You can check out more information here:

 From the Square Online Overview page, go to Items > Site Categories and select Add Category. You can also select Quick add categories to quickly add categories to your site by simply entering category names.

Sorry, I mean categories for appointments displayed on the Square Site. Is it possible?

Yes, you can display the service categories on the Square Site. You can view more information here. If you have further questions please let me know. 

Get Started:
 

1. From your Square Dashboard > Appointments
2. Select Online Booking from the menu on the left > Channels
3. Select Manage next to locations 
4. Click the 3 dots next to the location you want to add categories
5. Manage service and category order
6. Toggle Display categories online
7. Drag categories and services in the list to edit the order > Save
