Hey @Stanley and @porktaco! Also, @Erin_timme, I think I misunderstood your question before. I thought you meant how your customers can use a promocode and an eGift Card to make a purchase on your Online Store. Please also take a look at the information below.
The way to create a promotion code for an eGift Card is a bit different.
Here are the instructions on how to do so:
- Sign in to the Gift Cards section of your online Square Dashboard > eGift Cards.
- Click Promotion Code.
- Enter a promo code that’s 4-20 characters long.
- Select whether you’d like to offer a dollar amount or percentage discount. If you’re offering a percentage discount, you have the option to set a maximum discount amount. For dollar amount discounts, you have the option to set a minimum load amount.
- Select an optional expiration date for this promotion.
- Save.
You can discontinue a promotion code at any time by clicking the three-dotted actions menu to the right of the code details and clicking End.
To answer @porktaco's other question, I would set it up so it begins 12/2 at 12am, and ends 12/2 at 11:59pm. Let me know if either of you have any follow up questions about this.
Hi @isabelle, thanks for your reply. However, when using the eGift Card section of the Square Dashboard, my only option is to set an expiration date for individual promo codes NOT a start date. Nor are times available to set. Therefore, my initial question remains about what time a promo code will actually expire on a chosen expiration date? Please find a screen snip of the promo code options available to me below. Thanks for your help!

Apologies for the delay. I wanted to confirm with the eGift Card Product Team.
After some debate, they verified that the promotion will expire at the end of day (11:59pm) of the expiration date selected. You can also manually end the promotion if you close before that time or have concerns. Apologies for the confusion and thanks for your patience!
Hey @isabelle, just reporting back on the Black Friday promo that we ran. The one-day promo code expiration did, in fact, expire at the end of the day on the given date as you and the eGift Card Product Team confirmed. Great to know!
However, of 322 eGift Card promotion orders we received, we had 57 customers make an error with entering the code. As a result, we ended up having to manually process about $2,000 worth of refunds for said number of customers. Fortunately, we got the opportunity to speak with each of the 57 customers and learned that every error was a functional one mostly due to the design of the eGift Card website and how/where it prompts the customer to enter the promo code. Is it possible for Square to look into layout optimizations of the eGift Card website to be more intuitive for customer input of promo codes?

Hello @isabelle, we are also looking to set up a Cyber Monday eGift Card promotion through the Square eGift Card site and would like to know what time, on the preset expiration date, the promotion code will expire. If the promotion code is set to expire on 12/2, will it expire at 12:01am on 12/2 or 11:59pm on 12/2? Or, another time? Thanks!
