hi there,
I'm seeing two different states inside my cash management reports, one indicating that the cash drawer is closed and the other one indicated that it has ended. I don't understand how these states have happened and what are the differences.
I would appreciate it if anyone can help me understand this issue better.
You start the cash drawer at the beginning of each day when the 1st employee starts their shift it's in accounts, cash management, if you have more than one shift it helps the business to track your sales and employees start the drawer and their coworkers that run that register usually are held accountable for any problems with shortages, at the end of their shift they clock out and count the drawer and match it to the short sales summary and only handles the cash, no credit cards when thy end the drawer this automatically prints and or emails you, then they go to reports and run the long sales report section and run the sales summary, this is going to give you a detailed report of the days sales, fees, tips, count whatever amount you leave for them in the drawer as change money for the next shift they count their drawer and pull tips if that applies to your business, after the money is rite they close the drawer (ending their shift, then the next person counts the drawer and makes sure the till is correct because the drawer will now be their responsibility)then they start their drawer and head off for their shift, and repeat the same practices. This info will also show the hours your the busiest, which employees do the best in sales and all the other reports use this for their info in the reports section, it can also help you trace discounts and comps and you can set up your reports in the way that gives you the the best sources for your records and traceability.( the 1st person should count the till left in the register from the previous shift
also incase of a shortage they can make it aware to who they need to that the drawer was left short or over so they are not held responsible for the other shift if they left it short or over.
